Some places you're obligated to, like I signed a non-compete agreement with my employer, so they want to make sure I'm not headed to a competitor.

I can't remember if I signed a non-compete or not. It was 5 years ago. I'm going anyways.

I guess it depends on the company.

 

Here a guy was leaving to go to a competitor and he told the boss where he was going and when. He gave 2 weeks notice.

 

I guess some businesses can be really hard on employees.

 

When my wife got laid off they called her into the bosses office and told her she was no longer needed and a security guard escorted her to her desk to grab only her purse and told her to call and make arrangements to get her other belongings in 2 weeks.

 

When she came back, I went with her and there was a security guard watching her every move.
