I think I am going to buy a Sig M400 for myself with all the CA legal goodies, but my mom wants a handgun. She likes the feel of my 1911 in the grip, she thinks the Glock is too fat. She also wants a 9mm. I am not sure on what to get her or even show her. I also don't want to break the bank

You can get 1911's fairly cheap but 9mm's are cheaper. The 1911 .38 super is what I would personally go with over the .45 version but it also cost around 1k or more

I have a 1911 already. I love it, but my mother wants a 9 mm.

Any specific reason she wants a 9mm? And my girlfriends hand fits my S&W 40 mp well, I know its wider, but it is a comfy grip for about 550-600.. also comes in 9mm. Same deal with the XD's.

she shot a 9mm and my 45 and she prefers the 9

Any friends with different calibers? Only reason I'm asking is the sketchy knockdown power of a 9mm in a bad situation, not sure of her uses/intentions of this gun.

Hobby/if someone gets in the house and I'm not home. I have the 1911 next to my bed and my room is right of the foyer from the front door

They make 1911s in 9mm. Though it wouldn't be my first choice for a HD pistol because of something goes down chances are you might not have the clarity of mind to flock off the safety so all my guns are DA/SA pistols or ones with passive safeties like the Glock.

Well I ended up buying her a Rock Island 1911A1. Not a bad price on it, And for myself a Bushmaster BFC-15 AR-15 with an EOTech EXPS-0 HOLOgraphic sight

The gun count now, well as of 10/6 when I am allowed to pick them up, is 2 1911's a Remington 870, and a Bushmaster AR-15

Waiting periods are stupid, hats off to anyone who can tolerate living in the People's Republic of California.

I tolerate it, that is the key word... Tolerate. In Florida I had to wait 3 days for my 1911 and that wasnt bad. But for all guns here it is 10 days

I will post pics of the whole collection when the waiting period is over
