I think that is the Rosen unit, most people here are partial to the advent ogm-1. Me personally, I am running the factory nav.

looks like i pretty nice system for the price..it says its all plug and play with the rear camera, steering wheel controls, xm, etc..reviews look pretty good on amazon..i might try it out.

Just make sure it comes with the GPS antenna. I didn't see it mentioned anywhere in the description. If not, I think you'll have to buy that seperately (GM part# 15201798). I gets installed up under the dash cover near the defroster vent and there is already a mounting area ready for it from factory. Also, unless you install the VSS/Voice harness you will probably loose Onstar capability.

I've helped a couple guys that have tried this unit and have been unimpressed, then moved to the OGM1, mainly due to the look and feel of the Simplesoft unit that isn't quite up to "North American" standards.

You may want to see if you can find some videos online that show all of the different operations so you can get a good idea if this unit will do what you expect.

How much is the OGM ?

If you'd like to PM me or contact me via www.adcmobile.com, I can let you know what you can expect...

the advent units are nice but as far as the pricing you are better off going with GMs nav and getting them to install which would have a warranty once they added the VCI#.

IMO Nav is old technology and very outdated unless it is on a some version of a smartphone. I would not waste the money. Not trying to be a dink here.

Absolutely agree, if your overwhelming highest priority is navi and you never travel outside of cell range, then you can't beat a smartphone.

However, if you want an upgraded head unit from what GM sticks in from the factory, then there's not many high quality units to choose from that include the ability to plug and play, are update-able indefinitely, and include very cool features that the factory units will NEVER be capable of.

So far, I don't think I've ever suggested that ANY navi deck or system is the best for every person, but what we look for in the products we carry is to have most of the class-leading features and do them all well. So far, the Advent has shown us that it does everything pretty well, and the things that it doesn't do, we've hacked and modded our way into it to make it do more than Advent intended...

I'm willing to take my chances from the reviews on amazon about the simple soft nav..the reviews say that everything is plug and play. For $599 as opposed to $2000, it will prolly meet all my expectations. I'm not concerned so much about GPS..I would like to have the DVD, big screen for backup cam and that's about it

I put a Kenwood-Garmin unit in mine for not much more than that and love it! Everything from the factory is kept , and a big screen for the back-up camera and watching movies while you drive is cool (the kid's watch movies while I drive)!

Can anyone give me some info on an oem nav installation, I have an 08 silverado ltz I don't know if I have the lux or non lux bose system. It is bose but no nav system. How can I tell if I have lux or not because I bought a lux bose nav head unit???

Posted

I think that the Lux/non-Lux applications were for the GMT-800s not the newer body trucks (07 and up). On these, it's either Bose or Non-Bose. If you have a Bose system, you're good to go. If not, the unit will still work but the volume levels will be very low due to the lack of a stock amp on the non-bose trucks.
