RC Leveling question

My understanding is that it does not void any warranty unless it can be proven that your modification caused the problem. Ball joints come to mind, a common issue that comes up for people with leveling kits (or even without for that matter). Hopefully some others can tune in on this too. I know I've read about it on here before.

Many run them and report no problems. I've also read it may contribute to premature ball joint wear, but who knows how premature. To answer your question, unless the level kit could be the cause of a problem, the warranty is not voided. So maybe if the ball joints wear out, they wont be covered. You wont know for sure until it was to happen and take it to a dealer....

Technically the mod has to be proven to be the cause of the problem for the warranty to be voided. Depends on the dealer how hard of a time they give you. Just what I've heard

newbie questions, whats the benifet of a leveling kit?

Its a matter of taste. I personally just like the look of a leveled truck over a stock one.

reasons for a leveling kit

-you want to remove factory rake (lift front of truck 2-3 inches)

-you need to clear bigger tires

why not take the block out of the fear (not going for big tires) lot cheaper then a leveling kit.

If you're not towing, and not getting bigger tires, and not going offroad on a regular basis, then I agree with Tahoe08. In my case I still have the rear block, but did a shackle kit, dropping the rear by two inches. Still have a little rake, with another inch to drop if I want to with the block. If I was off road more I would go up in the front like most of the guys, but this is my first "street" truck, and I'm trying to stay true to the style...even if it kills me.

Or put a level kit and larger blocks :)

From what I was told by my GM dealer it has to be more then just leveling to void warranty. If you really want to dot your i's and cross your t's then have them install it. I just kept good records of the lift install and made sure to get it done by a reputable alignment shop.

For a street truck, that would work just fine. However, some people enjoy a little more clearance under their trucks when going off the beaten path. :driving:
