2011 GMC Sierra 2500HD airdam torn

I was backing my travel trailer into its parking spot and snagged my front airdam/spoiler on the dog run cable. It tore 6-8 inches and I am trying to decide whether to try and "weld" the plastic or replace it??

Anyone have the part number handy? anyone have one that they took off they would sell or give me?

Thanks in advance

You could throw it away.

I've tried welding plastic, there's a kit you can buy, but it's probably cheaper and easier to buy one from one of the many people who took theirs off.

We just had a discussion about those plows awhile back.

See here:

My advice is to remove, dispose and don't look back.

If you "use" your 4WD truck it will be coming off sooner or later anyway.

Turns out the air dam (lower removable part) is fine, it is the upper part that is torn. I will probably put a metal piece behind and pop rivot it and then paint the rivot heads black... I'm not going to replace that piece unless my fix does not hold... might find one reasonable at a wrecking yard...

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year!

It sounds like this is the black plastic piece that attaches to the chrome bumper and not the air dam under the bumper.

I too tore mine right after i got the truck (backing out of a hole in the sand on the beach).

Mine is only torn at the edge about 2 inches so i have not worried too much over it.

I did look to see how difficult it would be to replace and it looked like a pain. not hard, just a pain.

How did your fix hold up?
