Need new brakes, now more confused

So it's time for new brakes. After researching for over an hour, I'm more confused on which way to go now. I know there a hundreds of posts on brakes but had some other questions that I could not find answers to.

 

Some people swear by the EBC/PowerSlot combo and others say no and to stick with stock. I'm wanting better stopping power but with good pad life and low noise. I currently have 60k on my stock brakes with plenty of pad, just want better stopping. I'm thinking three options:

 

1. Wagner Thermoquiet pads and rotors

2. Wagner pads with power slot slotted rotors

3. EBC Green Stuff pads with Power slot slotted rotors (will consider Hawk LTS pads if those are better as far as stopping power, noise and life)

 

How would you rate each choice in terms of stopping power/increased stopping distance, noise and pad life? Will going with Wagner pads and Power Slot rotors produce better stopping power and good life or should I go with EBC/Power Slot? (trying not to break the bank either) I don't tow much and if I do it's not overy heavy. Is it true that upgrading to at least slotted rotors helps with stopping power since it dissipates heat better?

 

I'd also want low noise and low dust if that's possible with Green Stuff pads. I know the Wagners produce low dust.

 

I had a close call the other day and realized I need something that stops better that stock brakes.

I was thinking about the same thing I'm just kinda toyin around with the idea though. I know that when I bled my brakes, put a new master cylinder in it and brakes/pads it helped the braking greatly! But mine still isn't as grabby or good as some cars I have driven. Let me know what you find good luck

I think the three things you are looking for are the three things that cannot all be excellent at the same time. Like a triangle, with stopping power, noise, and life being on one point each on the triangle. In order to get two good, the third option will be poor. Stock got you 60k, why not go stock again? 60k is not bad for brake life (assuming you are talking miles).

My stock brake rotors warped bad at 60k kms and I turned them warped again at 80 I went with some cheap rotors and cheap pads and well I'm 60k kms in since and I have just about 50% left now. Mind you they make noise since day one. Cleaning them every rotation helps a bit. I don't see the need to waste money on slotted rotors.

Have had good luck with Wagner thermo quiet pads. Long life no noise.
