Remote Start and HVAC Controls

Are the HVAC controls supposed to light up when using the remote start? Once the key is inserted and turned, the control lights come on, but until then there is no display.

 

I have the automatic/digital dual zone climate control.

Yes this is normal, Mine does the same.

Normal. Dash/controls are "dead" until you insert the key. HVAC/seat heaters/defrosters will be functioning though.
