Ouch..my Truck knifed me today

My garage queen 07 LTZ knifed me today. Specifically, I sliced my finger on the interior door handle right at the seam. It is a sharp as a knife and is just starting to look like it is delaminating. Don't drive the the truck much (50K) and it lives comfortably in the garage. Not much to complain about, but damn this is nasty...

Anyone have any luck in getting a dealer to do a good will fix or is there a recall on this. Never know, I could get a nasty infection and die :nopity:

There is a tsb on the chrome handles however unless you have an extended warranty it looks like you are out of luck

Yep, my '07 LTZ did the same thing....but it was still under warranty at the time. Guess you could sand/file it down and plasti-dip it, if you don't want to spend money on a new one. :dunno:

GM extended the coverage on this to 8yr/100,000 I belive. Check with your dealer as it is VIn specific. It will cover to have both of them replaced.

Tricia:

Thanks for the response regarding my LTZ door handles. The last 8 of my VIN are: 7Z500171

I haven't talked to the dealer yet as I travel out of town quite frequently and this week was fairly busy.

Thanks again for any information you can send me

Thanks Kevin. I do see something that may relate to this concern under your VIN. The only way to be certain would be to contact your local dealer. They should be able to assist you further. Keep me posted and let me know if you need anything.

MB2008LTZ,

You can also feel free to send me the last eight of your VIN via private message. I can then look into this for you as well. Thank you.

Check this bulletin.

Unless I am reading that bulletin wrong it looks like only 2007 model years are covered. My 2010 silverado just had the driver's door handle replaced because of this issue. It has all of 12K miles on it and had actually been peeling for a while. Just was waiting for more reasons (warranty work) to take it to the dealer first.

NHTSA should not have allowed GM to do anything less than a recall for this issue! and obviously GM has not corrected the issue 3 years later.

Are the 2011-2013's handles any different?
