Dads 2012 silverado making a light high pitch noise

I get to drive my dads truck for a month I notice a high pitch noise in side the cab . I think most older people wont be able to hear this noise. I cant detect where the noise is coming from inside the cab. It starts right when i get in the truck . I don't even have the key in the vehicle yet. It is really annoying.

 

Its a 2012 1500 silverado crew cab 4x4 .

It's normal. There is something powering up under the dash once the door is opened. Seems to go away after a couple of seconds.

not my vehicle to take in . Would like to know what the noise is to tell my dad about it . Most likely he cant hear it . If i know what the problem is there is a greater chance that he would take it in .

It's not a super load noise on my truck. It's just noticeable when you unlock the truck and open the door.

 

My guess is it's the RAP (retained assessory power) module. My BMW car makes a similar noise as well.

 

Of course, now someone pointed this out, it'll bug everyone since they'll hear it.

pretty common with the '12's as far as I can tell from other chevy/GM forums, see my topic and the reference to #PIT5166C. Dealers are replacing the defective radios under warranty now.

You are totally missing the man;s point.

 

New truck = WARRANTY............That's when you take it to the dealership, tell them what's going on, and you pay nothing for any repairs. YOu are not a GM Tech. take it to one and find out what the problem is.

Completely possible he wanted to be armed with info incase he encountered a dealer not in the know.
