Well.. I ended up just buying 4 stock (cladless) steels wheels. Now I just have to have them blasted and painted or powder coated black. what do you guys think about paint vs. powder coat? I deal with a lot of body shops and can have professional paint or powder coat job done reasonably..... what do you think?

I think either would work great, a good powder coat would probably last longest

Yeah... That is what I am thinking as well. I will have to check out pricing.

Why not just remove the plastic chrome cover from your existing wheels?

I was doing some market research on what kind of wheels people like and stumbled across these comments. I figured since I used to work for one of the companies that made chrome-clad wheels I’d offer some facts that may be helpful. You called them plastic covers, although it is easy to describe them as wheel covers, they are not. Wheels covers are made in low cost countries from inexpensive plastic and can be easily removed – ever see a car running around without them after hitting a pothole? Chrome-clad wheels have an expensive engineered high-impact composite permanently bonded to the wheel to allow a high quality chrome finish to be applied.
