I still have my Alaska plates which also requires front and back plates. My Mother-in-law's car had similar situation, the snow and ice were literally destroying the front plate so last time I was up there I had to fix it up so she didn't get a ticket for it.

Here is my plate....couldn't get NARDA 1 because Illinois won't let you put numbers after letters on a truck plate. SILVERADOSC540 how about using "HUFFED" for your plate?
