2011 Silverado intake question

I had the K&N on for over 70,000 miles. I kept 2 filters. One ready to go in the garage and one on the truck so I had no down time. I put the Volant with Donaldson Power Core on it today.

I think cleaning it, letting it dry, oiling it up and putting it back in is a hassle.

 

Yup it is. Waste of my time. I drive in quite a bit of dust and the Wix filters I get from Napa for $9 a pop are a nice easy swap. My intake tubes are always spotless.

If you want something just buy the tube and use the stock air box. CAI are a big waste of money as there is nothing to gain but a little more noise which sounds like you have more power but you dont. Dont believe what you read on the box or internet website for that product

 

Of course a company sells or recommends and product is a company that is trying to make money and is a sales person for that companys product.

Spot on. Few people realize that the peak horsepower gains usually come at very high RPMs which are well above normal driving RPMs. Look at the hp and torque curves from the manufacturer before deciding. After reviewing several, it was clear to me that the money could be better spent elsewhere.
