About to add tires to the ride. Looking for opinions. I am thinking hard about the Dunlop RTV 305/70/16s on my stock wheels. The guy at the offroad shop said they will fit and not rub without the lift. I see a lot of post that they like the 285/70/16s better. If the difference is just the width, why would it make the ride any different? What is the difference in gas mileage and ride if the tire is just wider. If I am not mistaken 305/70/16s are the same as adding 33's. I want the biggest tire possible but I dont want to give up that much gas mileage and have to listen to my wife complain I spend too much on gas because of my tires(with a long list of other things she has to rag me on!) I was going to go with the 3" body lift first but now I am doing the tires first to make sure the truck will fit in the garage.

Can't leave my baby out in the weather.  :wtf:  :fume:

wider = paint bill $$$

Wider tires will throw up rocks and damage the rear end more than a skinnier tire.  Thats why I wont go wider.  The 285s do enough damage.

I had 305 X-Terrains and they didn't throw up an excessive amount of rocks on the paint that I noticed.  The flares stopped almost everything from getting all over the truck.

Wider is Better :wtf:

Wider tires doesnt usually mean they will throw up rocks. It all depends on the tire pattern. like Bfg At they, hold rocks and then fling em like there's no tomorrow.

285/75-16's are basically a 33x11.50-16.

305/70-16's are basically a 33x12.50-16.

The stock 265/75-16 is basically a 32x10.50-16.

What  do you think the difference between 305/70/16's and the present 265/70/16's will be in actual truck height? Whats the actual difference in the width? Is that width too much for my tire sidewalls? I am not a tire guy.

I am wanting to do this and then add the 3" body lift lift, but I want to make sure this fits in garage!! Ya'll probably hate I ask so many questions, bear with me I just bought the truck and am lining up the finances to get it exactly like I want it. Will be about a 3 month process.
