tow/haul function

Hello all,

 

I have a 2003 Sierra 2500HD that the speedo stepper motor went out on and now the tow/haul function has quit working. Any connection to the stepper motor problem? Is there a fuse for the tow/haul switch?

Tow/haul the wire that comes off the shifer underneath the column plastic cover usually wears through to bare wire. Replacing the shift lever or repairing the wiring should solve that.

 

The cluster, 2003-2005 trucks were notorious for cluster failures. Rebuild or replacing with a reman.

I will be removing the instrument cluster soon and will check on the wires, it probably happened the last time I had the cluster out.

Yeah its the wire in the column. My 05s hasn't worked for probably over a year but I couldn't care less as I never used it anyhow. I like how I have my trans set in just the so called regular mode. Performance mode in the tune software is tow haul and its settings are now identical anyway.

 

If you can solder you can buy the stepper cheap and just swap it yourself.

I tried twice to replace the stepper and wound up breaking a trace on the PCB so I will be replacing it with a reman.
