removing resonator

I'm lookin to run true dual straight pipes on my truck this summer but really nervous about removing the resonator. Anyone have experience with removing theirs or know of someone who has removed theirs and did you face any problems? emission problems or check engine light come on etc problems like that?

no I know the cats will, those are staying on. but after the cats when the left pipe is ran over to the right side of the truck and goes into a y pipe there is my resonator and I want to cut right before the y pipe so I can put on the second pipe for my true duals.

I have heard that it is also a converter. Anyone else know because I'm not so sure myself what exactly it is? It looks similar to a converter, but not exactly the same...

It may also be a cat but if there are no O2 sensors downstream you should have no issues. That said, gutting cats on a newer truck is not going to get you anything in terms of gains.

no I've checked and i can get a photo up when i get time to run out to my truck but there isn't any o2 sensors in front of or after the resonator just wasn't sure if it still could cause problems or not

Removing resonator will reduce weight and back pressure.Just removing a resonator and adding a catless TP sounds plenty good enough IMO,plus you are losing a few lbs which is always good.

It is a resonator and no it wont hurt anything, might make the sound really raspy or create drone though.

NNBS have 3 cats, muffler and a resonator. Depends on the vehicle.

Even if it is a pup cat, if they are unmonitored you can remove them with no issues. My 2009.5 G8 GXP had the 2 main cats and a pup cat, removed mine and the resonator and replaced it with a Magnaflow X pipe and car ran perfect. Laid down almost 370rwhp with that setup and normal bolt ons.

On the 6.0l it's good to have a resonator, without one they have a tendency to drone.
