Wow, wasn't expecting this. What happened?

Can't get this MF damper pulley off. Literally trying everything. It's a 24 but my 24mm socket is too loose so we have to use a 15/16. Also, getting everything off up front is a major PITA. I probably went overboard, it's not that terribly hard. It's just annoying.

Okay, got everything off except the valve covers. Parts come tomorrow so hopefully the cam swap goes smooth and this thing will be all ready by tomorrow afternoon/night! Can't wait! Things are going much smoother now.

One question, how does the timing stuff go with this vvt? I believe I found the the timing marks on the crank and cam gears if someone could reassure me or tell me different that would be nice!

It's going a lot better, we're just doing a little at a time everyday so it's taking a while. We just have to replace the springs now then we can slap it all back together. Changing cams about gave me a heart attack though, we used the dowel method but it still made me nervous.

Who ever invented the claw type valve compressor can go to **** that thing is a joke. I'm not gonna risk damaging my springs. Anyone have a suggestion for a tool that I could get at a local auto parts store? I don't wanna wait a week for the vinci tool even though it'd be very handy.

I have used the claw type in the past and they work just fine, they will not hurt a thing.

This one from O'Reilly's was a joke, a buddy of mine has a nicer one I'm gonna try. His dad was a gm tech and he's telling me I don't even need to change springs but I'm kind of nervous about that..

Go with whatever the cam manufacturer says in regards to springs.
