Can't decide on a A/T or M/T tire for my daily driver

First off I am new to this site so I am sorry if something like this has already been brought up. My driving is around 85%city 15% offroad, not talking mud bogging, but a field road or wet snowy cornfield during goose season. I currently have a set of H2 rims I plan on using when I get new tires which brings up another question can I step down to a lt265/70r17, or keep running the 285's since the rims are 8.5 wide. Current tires I am looking at are.

A/T tires

Firestone Destination A/T

BFG A/T

TOYO A/T

Cooper AT3

M/T tires

Cooper STT

TOYO MT

Sorry not many mud tires, picked these because heard they are fairly quiet on the road. I have a open mind for any other suggestions

I'm sure some others will chime in, but I love my Cooper ATP's (very similar to the AT3). The STT's are an awesome tire, K3LA-6.2 has a set.

With the driving you do, All Terrain tires would be better than getting a Mud Terrain tires unless you just like the look of Mud Terrain tires better.

I agree. I will also throw the Nitto Trail Grappler M/T in the mix as well. I have had two sets and they are excellent tires. Aggressive as hell off road, fairly quiet on the highway for an M/T.

Yeah I have a friend with a set of the trail grappler m/t's on a 4 door jk, love the way they look. If I am thinking right kstruckcountry those cooper atp's are available threw discount tire only?

Yeah you can only get the ATP's through them. The AT3's are very similar. I like how smooth they run on the highway, I run the 10 plys and they haven't dropped my mileage. They do really well in mud for an all terrain.

I doubt you could go wrong with either Toyos or the Graps.

Sorry to post again what about the 265 on that 8.5 rim? Think the sidewalls would be to ballooned out?

What do you all think of the destinations

i had 285 destinations on one of my trucks.. decent performance but only lasted about 30k....

if your doing mostly road driving it wouldnt be smart get an MT...

The dest a/t was going to be my cheapest route. That's why I brought them up. Picking new tires can be such a pain. I currently have wild country xtx all terrains, and I have not been happy with there performance. Stuck on wet grass, got stuck in the mid of the road this winter pulling out a Nissan frontier, and prob the worst tire I have had as far a wet road traction. Think my old bias plys I had on my old mud truck was better in a wet road. The only good thing I can say about them is I didn't have to buy them they was on the truck when I bought it

Hey buddy. I think you'd be happy with the Toyo AT2, Cooper AT3, or the trusty ole BFG AT. And I think a 265 tire would be about the smallest width you'd want to go on those 8.5" rims. Those chrome mickeys on my dad's old HD were 8" wide, and he ran 265's just fine. I think a 265 would work, but a 275 or 285 would look better.

Edit: I'm running 275's on 9" rims without any trouble, so I think 265's on a 8.5" would be ok too.

Yeah I am starting to lean towards that 275 bfg. The at3 also comes in that size, both are e range tires. Fig I might get some of my gearing back with a 275. Think also a 285 on that h2 wheel might rub with the offset and I really don't want to crank on my t bars.

ok going to throw one more tire in the mix if I run a 285 size anyone run the Kelly safari tsr. Read a lot of reviews some say great tire others don't like them.

we have the kelly's on our fire dept brush truck and they are rough as ever loving hell in a 10 ply
