2006 Silverado LM7 fuel filter

Silverado 1500 Crew Cab, short bed, 4WD, VIN engine code T

We just got my son's truck out of storage. He's been overseas for two years. I was doing some prep maintenance on it and ran into a fuel filter problem - or maybe not.

Going through the VIN specs it appears to be LM7 5.3L V8 MFI.

When I looked in the owner's manual I didn't find anything about frequency of replacing the fuel filter. When I went to the parts store, the filter book said to replace filter and pump together.

I was concerned about condensation from it sitting up. One of his friends supposedly ran it every month but I don't know how accurate that is.With nothing in the manual about frequency of servicing the filter I guess we just run it till the pump dies and replace both. Is that right?

Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Yep. I think 2003 was the last year for an external filter. Though honestly the filter won't do anything to help moisture I wouldn't think nor do I think that is an issue on modern vehicles with sealed fuel systems.

Mike is on the money. No serviceable filter on your vehicle. After 2003 GM went to a "return-less" fuel system which, in their thinking, eliminates the need for a filter other than what comes with the pump

Thanx guys. That clears it up. I'm still driving my '94 Sierra and she's doing just fine. All this new fangled stuff gets confusing, said the old codger :D
