Scored a GMC Private Offer for $1500. Yippee !!!!!!!!

Called on a leftover supposedly new 2014 GMC . Truck was advertised as "new with 2 miles on it". When I talked to the dealership, turns out they were using it for a service loaner program that netted them cash and credit for the trucks sale. It was already using up warranty time.

I wasn't overly impressed with their price, or the fact the truck had a couple of thousand miles on it as a loaner. A putrid $4K off list.

Even after scoring a $1500 Private Offer it wasn't going to happen.

Another dealer and same story. $4K off a service loaner truck- listed as new online.

They're using the trucks and still wanting "new" money for them .

I am a general motors employee so I was able to purchase a vehicle from the PEP program (Company Vehicle) If you are a high enough level at general motors you get a free car to drive around for 6 month and every 6 month you get a new car. They then sell these cars at a discounted price to GM employees and you still get all the new car incentives. Depending on how many miles are on it you get a certain amount off. The different ranges are 0-3000 miles 3000-6000 miles and then over 6000 miles. This truck has 6200 miles so i got the best discount.

So the MSRP including destination charge was $50,070

The PEP program purchase price was $40,137

I received $6250 in incentives

So purchase price not including taxes was $33,837

Not to bad i don't think for an 2015 Sierra SLT crew cab with 6k miles

Truck included SLT preferred package, Z71 package, Tonneau cover, 6 inch running boards and spray in be liner

I bought a Sierra crew cab SLE V6 4wd Monday night. Literally minutes before I left to go to the dealer I scored a $1500 private offer. As I had already discussed price with them before this, it was easy money back in my pocket. This took me from a good deal to a great deal I feel like.

Msrp $45,350

Incentives $7500

Dealer discount $6244

$31,606 plus tax

If anyone is going buy soon I highly recommend spending some time trying for the private offer.

I'm no finance expert like some here, but at almost any price I can't see why one would buy a 2014 now-the second you roll it off the lot you are driving a new car truck but with two years depreciation, no?

I'm looking at a new 2014 Crewcab 1WTs in the 24-25 range. How the heck can I "get hurt" at that price?

    • Even tougher is the 5.0 / 302. That's what this one has.    https://postimg.cc/Z9XRrCSg   https://postimg.cc/4n3F3yzY   Just realized I had the airbox removed in the engine pic, lol.
    • Yep! This should be a pin somewhere as @pgamboa really dives into all of this. Thanks for reposting the link!
    • I did the new thermostat after doing a 'flip' for a year. Runs as cool one way as the other in the summer but in the winter there is a bit of a floor. Yellow with the new 70 C thermostat. My data over the life of the unit to date. Still need more cooler. Anyway that floor helped both winter fuel economy and shift quality in the winter. I found it a good balance.
    • Evan Williams Bottled in Bond   So pouring the last of a bottle of Evan Williams Black label last night I set off the the state store for a refill only to be denied the by an empty shelf. Rats.    What the did have was a bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof. Hum, a few bucks more but a known distiller. Lets have a swing at it. ( I have before )    Cracked it open and pour a serving over ice. Hum.... more heat, yes. More alcohol naturally. But the barreling not the proof brings the taste and this one came up short.    Oh is was familiar but the heat ran the barrel over like a Peterbilt runs over a squirrel. Could use a heavier toasting of the oak me thinks or perhaps a longer barreling. Who knows. But what I can say is ice or a water back isn't the answer. What kills one kills them both. Sad. It is a pleasant drink....if you have little to compare it to.
    • I've had exactly one set of Bridgestone. Lasted five year and 125,000 miles and had I known better 15oK would have been a cake walk. I would have bought a like set had they not tripled in price since the first set. I removed them at said mileage with 5/32" remaining in dead even wear all four. They were fuel efficient, quite, comfortable and predictable.    Early on I got a very good alignment checked at least once a year, sometimes twice; kept the tires properly inflated, balanced and rotated. And I've found that many a tire issue can be avoided with great maintenance practices. Lot's of tire dealers will do rotation and balance (simple) for free for as long as you own the tire they sold you so no excuse not to.    Bead prep, alloy integrity and stem health have a huge impact on inflation stability. There are more mountings done poorly that perfectly. Finding a good tire guy is gold and as important as finding a tire you like.    That 3X price increase now two sets of "other tires' later is starting look like a bargain.      Bad maintenance kills more tires than bad tires.
