For anyone who might be looking to replace your factory Bose speakers. here is the wiring color for the speakers: When looking at the Bose amp on the back wall, you see four plugs. ( Yes that's right the amp is located on wall in the middle/ low at the bottom of the seats).

1st plug far right side:

Red +

Black -

Blue/grey sub

Yellows left front

Blue/brown right front

2nd plug fro the right

White/ blue right rear

Brown/purple right tweeter

yellows left tweeter

greens left rear

I think the upgraded Bose system with the amp/sub sounds GREAT for a factory system. The best I have heard yet from the factory. Of course it could always have more low end.... what system couldn't? Keep in mind, that the installed sub is only a 6.5", I believe, so its going to have its limitations. But I would think this setup would suffice for 95% of the public. I test drove a truck with the front bench, without the additional amp/sub and it sounded like any other factory radio. (pathetic) If you don't have the console sub setup, then I can see where the complaints are coming from.

I took my BIL for a ride in my new truck the other day, and he was blown away by the stereo. I've had the truck a couple weeks now, and he thought I had already upgraded the audio. Nope!

I'm never surprised by negative comments here. This is where guys come to bitch and nitpick.

I like my Bose stereo. I have a console and the sub woofer. While Bose wouldn't be my first choice for a stereo I think they sound fine. Maybe the type of music you listen to affects peoples opinion. I listen to Rock and Blues and enjoy the heck out of this stereo. If I wanted to annoy the neighbors with booming, rattle your teeth Rap or Hip Hop (sorry I can't call that s*** music) this stereo wouldn't get it.

Sounds great for how much the system weighs. That Small Subwoofer Uses chambers to lower frequency instead of a large sub with a heavier magnet

Anyone can make the system sound better but will add 30 lbs

I am satisfied with the unit. While not perfect, the system meets my needs. I have XM and also tap into some local HD channels. I think the HD sounds a little better. If the bass is turned up, you can definitely feel it - actually too much for my taste.

As long as u keep the Bass turned down, the highs boosted a little, it sounds good,. The problem comes when u start to push it hard, then it gets sloppy quick. No highs, no lows, it's got to be Bose!

All in all, it's not terrible, it's good, not great.

I honestly thought they ditched the center console sub and did the separates on dash with mid bass in the doors. I can't tell anything coming from "sub"

Trick we used to do was swap the factory 5.5 or the 6" with JL 6' mid bass, MBQuart Comp 6.5 or others.... On the 05-13's the speaker was crap but it had a little amp that worked ok...I'm a tad worried about this sub/amp combo if it's weak enough that it's over powered by the doors. Which by the way seem to be crossed over around 80 hertz. Defiantly need to add sub for 85 Dow

Having just come from an F-150 with the 700 watt Sony sound system in it, to this truck with the Bose - the Sony wins, easily. I cranked the Bose system up the other day and it got muddy, quickly. The Sony system always sounded tight, even at high volume.

only trucks with the center console have a sub. And the sub is not very powerful. Its a 6" unit. I think the front door speakers supply more bass. haha

Its probably easier to just to add a sub and install into a box under the rear seat with an aftermarket amp. Tap into the OEM harness for signal, get your power and grounds and remote run, bingo you're in business.

Just be sure you buy an "active" (powered) line-out converter such as the LC2i. I installed 2 - 12" Rockford Fosgate shallow mounts with a matching amp and found out the hard way that a regular line-out converter doesn't work with the Bose system. Couldn't get enough signal strength to the amp.

No I don't believe you can get Bose on an SLE.
Correct. Bose isn't even an option for the SLE. You have to have th SLT to get the Bose system. I'm wondering if anybody knows of a sub box that will fit the new double cabs or if the crew cab box will fit in the double cab. Also, I'd love to uprgrade the entire system just as C25A1guy did, however I don't know what speakers will fit without a decent amount of modification. Does anyone else know?

I have the sle with AT package and it has Bose in it.

Correct, but it is only the 6 speaker setup, without the additional amplifier and subwoofer.

The 7 speaker w/ amp package is only available in the SLT.

Serious? So its missing the base in the center console?

Im going to need to get one. Do you think they have the wiring in place to put the 7th speaker?

An easy way to tell is to flip up your back seat and look at the back wall of the cab under the seat. You will see a section that looks like swiss cheese. If your truck has the Bose amplifier, it will be bolted to the back wall of the cab where the swiss cheese stuff is. If you have the amplifier there, then you have the sub too.
