Bose Sound Quality?

I thought my Bose sounded mediocre when it was new, but now that the speakers have broken in it sounds great.

Does anybody get any speaker muffle/breakup out of the speakers on top of the dash? I am getting some very noticeable crackling out of the passenger side one, and I've had the dealer replace it once already but it is still doing it. It seems to do it most on mid-tone vocals, but will also do it on some mid-range music notes.

James83. my crackling issue only seems to happen most with radio. Or high pitch sound. The distortion happens at any level. Almost listo signsl isn't strong enough

The first Silverado I test drove had the Bose, and I was impressed with how it sounded (as a factory option). The Silverado I ended up buying does not have Bose. There is a decent difference between the two, but the stock level system sounds decent as well.

I figure some day if I get rich, I'll put a sub/amp under that back seat. But for now, I'm happy.

Hello all, nice to finally leave the discontinued envoy forums and join the Sierra forums!!

My question is pretty simple - I just upgraded from an old Envoy Denail with a pretty decent bose system in it (I do not think it had a woofer but sounded pretty decent) to an SLT Sierra w/o the bose, so the standard 6-speaker system.

I am pretty disappointed with it. The speakers are ok, in fact pretty decent, but having to turn the bass all the way up kills the clarity, and the midrange is basically useless.

I am thinking of doing 2 things: 1) the truck is literally 4 days old - going back to my guy at the dealer and trying to finagle a bose system upgrade for $500 if possible. 2) purchasing the Kicker "factory upgrade" with the 10" rear seat woofer and amp.

My question is - people with the 7-speaker Bose: do you love it? Does it sound, and bump good, with decent concert sound? Should I just give up on the Bose and give up the rear storage and get the 10" factory woofer upgrade for $1000??

Any people go from factory to either bose, or the kicker upgrade? Any people go from Bose 7-speaker to the kicker upgrade anyways?

Keep in mind, I used to run 2x 10" JL's way back in a 2001 Sierra.... I have matured a little since then and don't need a system for "spring break" but really love the bump you get in the high end Jeep Cherokee's, Dodge Rams and Ford vehicles with premium audio. I love driving, and love music, so having a nice sounding stereo is important to me.

I am also a huge bose brand fan from their head phones to home electronics. This might be clouding my judgement?

Thank you for your help!!

I have the Bose 7 speaker system and it does not have any "bump". While it does have decent sound IMHO, it is not a high quality sound system like after market systems. Heck, I had to read up on the Bose system her on the forum to determine if I even had a subwoofer (2015 CC with the bucket seats and console with the Bose system). If you want "bump", add the after market sub.

Good feedback. "Bump" is probably the wrong terminology... maybe "rich" sounding bass and clean notes, with a little deep thump?

Like I said, I used to have 2x 10" JLs in my old old sierra. I am over the neck hair tingling bass at this point in my life, but want something that sounds "rich". The 2006 envoy denali bose was pretty close to that.

My truck was equipped with the 6 Speaker Bose system. I felt the same way and I added the Kicker Substage 10" kit and sounds amazing now. It is around $500, the one that sells for $1000 is for non Bose equipped trucks.

Good advice, however with the standard I likely would just get the $1000 kicker.... rather than deal with Bose speakers (if I can even get those from the dealer after purchasing the truck) and adding the $500 kicker kit.

My guess, is the standard speakers with $1000 kicker kit would be comparable to the 6-speaker Bose + $500 kicker kit.... obviously some slight different but cant be THAT much. The factory speakers seem pretty decent to me... just no power because there is no amp or sub.

Your SLT does not have the BOSE system?

Correct, it has the standard audio package (6 speaker audio)... not the 6 Speaker Bose, or the 7 Speaker Bose. For the price I wanted, I got basically everything else with the exception of upgraded 20" wheels, rear sliding window, and moonroof. It wasn't ideal to give up the bose option, but the price was right

I have the Bose 7 speaker setup and i think it is OK. If you keep the windows rolled up, have a quality source (cd or high bit rate MP3 on Sd card) it can sound decent. I plan to keep it for a while as I don't play stuff that loud any more, but also because modifying such an integrated system seems like too much effort.

My previous truck had a 10 inch sub in a sealed box and component speakers on separate amps and it of course sounded way better.

If you want to feel some bass with the windows down and the mids and highs loud and clean you should consider doing something else than upgrading your factory to Bose.

I think it also depends on what type of music you listen to.

If you only plan to listen to classical or jazz or mellow rock the Bose may be perfect for you.

I love Bose, personally.

That being said, my '14 LTZ had Bose, my '15 LT doesn't and I can't really notice the difference. The stock CC system really jams out pretty well.

Except for my RC, I've got a 4ch that I'm going to have to install in it.

My Bose sounds awesome. I have an SLT all terrain so it came standard. The first month it just sounded decent, and so I "attempted" to add a sub and amp, but got too busy. After that first month the speakers finally watmed up or broke in and for a stock system it sounds awesome. Clean at full volume, great bass, and I dont need a sub anymore. I may add one later on but for the last year and a half ive been good to go
