Any Interior Cleaning/shining up tips?

Since I'm no longer looking at acres of hard plastic like my '10 had what have you found to be the best way to clean/protect and shine the dash and all? Also the perforated leather seats - just hit them with leather cleaner /protector like Meguiars.............. Any tips? Thanks

I suggest you don't put anything shiny like ArmorAll on the dash. A detail shop just did that to my wife's Enclave which I think has the same material & it's going to take awhile for it to wear off. It's distracting under certain lighting conditions. The owner's manual will have suggestions of what to use on various surfaces. I have had the perforated seats on several GM vehicles & haven't really done anything to them & they all looked fine after lots of use.

I have the same interior ordered but can't remember what color the carpet on the floor is. Do you mind describing it?

My opinion, and sorry to those that use it, but ArmorAll on interiors is for people that don't give a crap about their cars.

Don't use glass cleaner on everything either....

Use good leather and interior cleaning products that will leave a "natural" feel, like the day you bought it.

I myself am about to convert to this stuff: http://www.adamspolishes.com/p-830-adams-leather-interior-care-kit.aspx

And a whole bunch of other products from them. Maybe it will make a believer out of me...

The carpet is dark brown - I hope the "tan" weather tech floor mats I have on order will look OK. The matching brown carpet mats that come with it are cute, but they will get ruined around here in the winter.

Thanks for the reply on carpet color. I'm assuming it's the cocoa color or close to it. I'm thinking about the all weather GMC mats just because I think they'll match best. I'll be interested to hear how you like the tan WeahterTechs though.

303 Aero Space protectant is about the best stuff you can get for plastics, rubber, vinyl, leather and you can even apply it to paint. I use it on all my vehicles including my Harley. I first learned of a few years ago on one of the Harley forums.

I'll let you know when I get them. Here is the carpet and mats as delivered - I think it is a little more "brown: than the flash makes it look. ha

I wouldnt say use normal glass cleaner on everything, but that sprayaway leaves it very natural, doesnt make it shine jus makes it normal and clean. It isnt made for just glass.

Another vote for 303 Products!

Yet another vote for 303. Most protectorants look good when you first put them on, but as soon as you touch it or put your left arm or elbow on the arm rest or window ledge, it is instantly smeared or dulled. The 303 isn't near as bad for this. My personal detail products of choice are Zaino Brothers. i first started using Zaino in '98 when I bought my first Vette. That stuff is hard to beat, but pretty expensive. I buy the detailer by the case, however, there are a few products I find better over the counter. Once again, detailing "stuff" is pretty individualized. Most folks have their "stuff" they have used for years and swear by it, so it all depends on who you ask. Me, I'm always looking for something better, so I do read, pay attention, and experiment quite often. Another issue is, some folks like, especially the interior, to have a clean and dull look, while others prefer a clean and glossy look. Me, I'm in to shiney, bling, chrome and all that, whether it's the interior, the paint, the tires, or the glass.

Speaking of glass cleaner, I have a home receipe for glass cleaner I have used since '98. It is 100 times better than any over the counter cleaner. Here is an experiment for anyone interested. GLASS CLEANER: 1/2 cup clear ammonia, 1 pint 70% rubbing alcohol, 1 teaspoon liquid dawn, add enough water to make a gallon. The ammonia will not harm, in any way, tinted windows. I have used this on tinted windows for 15 years. As a matter of fact, when my wife discovered how good it is, we now have it in spray bottles in the kitchen and the master bath. It's the ony thing we use on mirrors and windows in the house. We have had all of our windows in the house tinted also. I originally got this receipe from the Corvette forum in '98. That's another reason I always like participating in forums, the information gained is priceless! However, speaking from experience, you do have to be flexible and willing to experiment with different folks suggestions until you find what works the best for you.

    • Folks, Have a great new 2026 WT  (std cab, 2.7/4WD) w/base 40/20/40 mech adj bench "fake buckets"  (with lower and upper center console) heavy vinyl seats.  Overall the seats are very comfortable and the vinyl is heavy and appears less likely to 'split out'. Am very tall (6'5")  + a bad back/osteporosis/former hyperparathyroidism so ease/range of movement is a bit restricted.  The truck rides a bit high and I use a nerf step bar w/my left foot to step in, then I put right foot/leg in, drag my butt in  & get seated.  Worked fine in my 2018 RAM quadCab. But I end up dragging my butt over the left raised sidecushsion area of vinyl seat, and due to texture there's fair amount of traction on slide inward.  (ArmorAll didn't improve.) If the seat were even ~1/2" - 3/4" lower it'd be helpful, but base seats just have the forward/backward underseat bail and the side lever for tilt which really doesn't affect seat height.   I really don't want to 'de-puff' the left side sidecushion forming the  fake 'bucket'. I know one company sells 'seat elevator blocks':  but is there a simple way of lowering the height of the driver seat instead?   Thanks Bill W San Jose
    • I have a basic 2026 1500 WT  (2.7L/4WD reg cab shorttbed). Comfy, generally happy with electronics/radio - but is there a way I can add switches to steering wheel right-side position (curr. empty) so I can adjust volume, push phone button to voice dial, etc? Bill W San Jose
    • The curb weight on a 1 ton crew cab long bed is around 7k lbs.  Now, I don't know where you went to school but 9k is not more than 2x 7k lbs. More than 2x 7k lbs would be 14k+.   With that said, obviously yes you're going to feel a 9k lb trailer when slowing down.  I already said, when accelerating.  When changing lanes?  No.  But if you look at the context of what was quoted, the original person said, "after a mile or two..." which means that would be after the accelerating portion and you're driving a generally steady pace.  Please do learn to read and comprehend.
    • So I purchased the Range unit for my 2026 and I am seeing different locations suggested for the ECM . Can anyone confirm wither under hood, left side or right side or behind the wheelwell?
    • Like I've said before. Di and Carbon buildup is not that big of a concern. Engine had minimal buildup, and that engine was obviously not super well maintained. Do regular oil changes, and you're gtg as long as the rest of the truck lasts. Also, the High Pressure FP that people ****** about, but can't tell you why.  Now, I wish they'd trash the variable oil pump. No real world issues with them, but I'll gladly eat whatever miniscule MPG it's saving me in favor of more oil at all RPMs.    Curious to see his assessment of the 7.3 compared to the 6.6. I expect he'll praise the port inj, but from a structural standpoint, the 6.6 is as robust as any engine out there.    Not to take away from the 7.3. I feel it's equally as good as the 6.6.     As to heat on the rear cyls, I'd have to see numerous examples before I'd say it's an issue. Especially not knowing the history of that engine. For all is known, they could have blown a rad hose, and ran it hot, and the 2 rear cyls may be the first to get hot in a low coolant situation, but not be an issue aside from that.
