Sounded good before headers and not bad after its warmed up, but man bet thats loud in person.

Would you recommend the Volant without headers? How was the chopper/drone?

The volant is an excellent system. Easy as pie to install and while it will drone as all exhaust systems will its not very noticeable. The chopper is also present, again so will any exhaust system I dont care what anyone says it will be present. The system is very quiet once warmed up and has a nicer growl when you get on it. I talked to both Corsa and Volant and it turns out they are owned by the same company. Volant's systems are just a 409 stainles vs 304 from the corsas. Also Corsa DB series were passed into the Volant line so its a tad more mellow then a full on Corsa.

Honestly the Volant was too quiet for my taste. Too loud you're too old type of deal I like to roll haha

haha that sounds pretty sweet with the headers

The tone is grate just the volume.... The mic on my gopro cant even handle it haha.....

You feel the truck on a cold start.... It punches you in the chest and makes babies with your ears. On light acceleration it sounds very good, but on hard acceleration it starts to pop... So i am going to throw a 22" magnaflow and maybe a race muffler as a resonator. I heard a 6.2 with that setup with kooks headers in person and oh my goodness it made me get a slight chub.

Also going to take the opportunity to go ahead and replace my muffler bearings lol

Has anyone tried to replace just the muffler and leave the AFM valve intact. Shouldn't this take care of the drone issue?

Like it or not drone will always be present. Valve or not resonators and even just replaing the muffler. If you change the tone to something more agressive it's going to drone.... Just the amount of drone is going to vary.

Take mine....

Just the Volant catback had a bit of drone that was drowned out by my tires since i have mud terrains.

Now with the headers it drones waaaayyyy louder but i habe absolutely no cats and its a 3" all the way out. Tge drone is very present to the point where i cant hear my tires anymore. But i do kinda enjoy that. Drove my girls 2014 and i was like wtf this thing is too quiet is it broken?? Haha

So.............have you tried a system with the valve in place? If nobody has I don't mind being the first. I'm no engineer but I do have common sense and it seems to me that the valve would have to make some sort of difference. The valve is quite logical really, and obviously needs to be in place unless you disable the AFM.

I have the metal mulisha exhaust which has no valve and is arguably the loudest cat back available (although it's deeper than it is loud I think). No flapper valve in there, it's not "louder" when in v4 per say, it's just different. It doesn't sound terrible to me, at low rpm sounds like a Subaru, higher rpm sounds more like a Harley. If the flapper does anything I think it's just to eliminate the sound it makes. Cause it almost seems to stay in v4 more now that I have the exhaust.

A few members have done this, but again i see the valve as a hindrance no matter what. Anything that blocks flow in the exhaust tubing is a no no.

I have that craptastic AFM turned off....god it's awful with it on. SOOOOOOOOOoooooo much better now.

Update :

So i have removed the volant catback and gone with a 22" magnaflow #12589 with 3" tubing all the way.

I must say it is so much nicer. Its border line stock sounding. Only downside is their is more drone then with the catback. But the volume is so much better.

I miss the volant because i liked being a hooligan under tunnels and the note but.... This is much better because it is a stealth approach that i want to performance.

But i might get a cutout to occasionally annoy the neighbors haha..

Video will be up later today already shot a cold start and few revvs

Wow what were numbers on the gains?

Wow what were numbers on the gains?

Idk.... But i nailed it yesterday and it bogged a bit and i looked down at my tach and the traction control light was blinking on dry payment.

It was because i have agressive line pressure in my tune. And boy does my truck let u know when iys changing gears under heavy acceleration!! Under "normal" driving it feels stockish haha

If you want a different truck get it tuned... No joke it feels much better and the transmission now knows what gears to be and stay in. If you have acess to a local tuner use them, in person tunes are the best you can get. If you dont then go with black bear.
