Ok so this is my first truck, and it def needs to louder!!! I want people to hear me coming!

My question is what is best to accomplish this? My friend said there is no need to do a full system, said something about putting on 2 flow masters and pipes either out the back or off the sides. Also said something about 1 pipe out of the cat to 2 pipes?

Sorry for my ignorance in this subject!

Thanks

You got a couple options. You van go with some headers to duals. A nice sounding exhaust for very little money is just to remove the stock muffler and just weld in a pipe to fit, not gonna be as loud as headers but still nice. Replace the muffler with a flow master 40 series maybe. But if your talking super loud go with headers with high flow cats. I'm not a huge exhaust guy but those are some options.

I think a simple muffler change would be nice. IMO double tips out the rear looks a little work truck red neckish.

Heard good things about replacing the stock muffler with a borla X1R muffler. Haven't heard it in person though.

Oops I quoted myself lol

I'm still on the fence as what to do with mine. I currently have a Muffler delete, but it's not that loud, I left the V4 flap and resonator but still ain't that loud.

Some say there are three Catalytic converters, I'm almost thinking the last Cat is actually another resonator as there is no 02 sensor (pictured below).

I'm leaning toward a Corsa cat back, but I would like to remove all the resonators.

I'm also looking at going with Corsa. I've heard only good things. I'm just waiting to confirm no drone in V4 mode.

My dealer told me that replacing anything before the catalytic converter is going to cause warranty issues if anything goes wrong around the motor. Has anyone had any past experiences with GM on this matter?

As of a couple of years ago GM no longer makes the vehicles 49 state emissions certified, they are now 50 state certified (for California). The last cat in that picture is a cat, it is a unmonitored cat so it can be cut out of the system and wont affect the running of the truck at all since it is not monitored. When GM added them to the 2009 G8 cars the pup cat caused a 5hp change in the rating, so I would assume prob close to that on the truck as well.

If my muffler shows up today at the shop I am going in after work today to have mine done. Currently am going with a Magnaflow 5x11x22 3.5" in/out - center/offset muffler for mine. It is the only muffler that Magnaflow offers that is 3.5" in/out which is what the 6.2 trucks are using now.

I will let you all know how it sounds once I get it done, if it doesn't add enough sound in I may have the shop cut out the last resonator and go from there.

I'm pretty happy with my Flowmaster system there is no V4 drone with the series 50 muffler

I just had a Magnaflow 5x11x22 put on mine today. It is deeper at idle and a little deeper at speed, but not as much as I wanted. If it doesn't change over the coming weeks we are going to cut the after muffler resonator off and go from there.

    • Well that book won't sell many copies. Taking ones right foot off the loud pedal never gets applause. Funny really, It isn't that people don't know what to do...they just don't want to do it. But they will complain about it. About bad craftsmanship, about the cost of fuel, about the cost of part and repairs and mainly they complain that the solution while still possible isn't one they are willing to do.    I observe this daily. 'Gas cost to much!", they wail, while they mat it passing at 80+ mpg and scoot down the road like gas cost a dime a gallon. Then complain about the few that will lift and save both fuel and iron like they are owed and own the road.    Good thing they haven't an ounce of influence on my equipment. The rest I just laugh at. Stupid is as stupid does, right Forest?
    • Today I filled up with 4.899 gallons of fuel at a cost of $4.899 a gallon. $24 bucks. 290 miles. 59.2 mpg. After my 4% COSTCO discount just under eight cents a mile.
    • Howdy folks,   Recently I pulled a heated steering wheel and clock spring out of a 2015 Sierra All Terrain (part numbers coming soon - will have to disassemble), and just installed it on my 2016 Sierra WT (as base model as it gets).   On install, I noticed that I’m missing the connector often tucked behind the dash for the heating element.     No problem… or so I thought.   I used an “Add-A-Fuse” at my heated steering wheel fuse location, which has voltage, but no wires. I ran it to the positive of the heated steering wheel (Violet/White), and took black to ground.   Hooked up the battery, turned the truck on - no heated steering wheel. No button backlights. Was pleased to see that my cruise control was working though.   Read a post suggesting reversing polarity, so I gave it a shot. Violet and White to ground, Black to power.    Aha! Heat! But I seemingly can’t turn it off AND still no backlights on any of the buttons.    Checked all fuses, everything is still in good order. I’m stumped.   Does anyone have any insight? If so, please share!
    • I'm about 1800 miles into my last oil change, and yesterday a message appeared saying oil life was at 77%. Not sure why it popped up but I think all of these electronics could be susceptible to solar flares or somesuch. I change my oil right at 3K each time, and that was the first time in 10870 miles that message came up. Strange thing is that it showed on the screen at all since I don't drive with that sort of info displayed on the DIC.
