Remote start in cold

So I just got a 2014 Silverado LTZ which I really like except...

I'm in the cold Alberta north and the command start isn't working properly. I'm going to take to the dealer as soon as I can but am just wondering if anyone has experienced a similar issue. When it's cold the command start won't work and when I try to manually start it with the key, nothing happens either; all the power comes on and the battery gauge says 12v but it won't turn over or click or anything. The first time after trying the key I left it for 20 mins and when I tried with the key again it started. The second time after leaving it for 20 mins and then another hour nothing happens.

The 05 I just sold never let me down once. -40+ and not plugged in, she'd start every time.

I live in Calgary, and during this last cold snap mine started fine every time. Never plugged in.

Thanks for replies. Disappointing for me but good news in the grand scheme of things.

Sounds like this could be your issue, should just need GM to reprogram your BCM ypema9ap.jpg

Rob191288. Fantastic reply, thank you. My truck is about to be picked up by roadside, I'll make sure they know about this.

This is a big problem for GM. They have a field engineer in Regina, SK right now trying to figure this out. We have had at least 3 trucks reporting the same problem at our dealership.

I picked up my New sierra last night...25 miles on it. Crew Cab all terrain edition. 1 degree f this morning. Remote start only made a click. Remote link didn't work....went out and tried key starting...nope. lights, radio, good battery power...truck would not crank. I had to turn the key 15 times to get her to crank...she started up...I shut her down. tried to restart....dead. kept turning the key....finally cranked and started.

I read and read and read...I knew of the issues out there...I was hoping to dodge a bullet.

And fix yet?

I had to get my truck towed to the dealership, they went through their gm checklist and the only real fixing they did was 'dry out' the starter and put some dielectric grease on the starter solenoid. Didn't seem like much but I haven't had any problems since.

Crew Cab All Dead edition sounds better for this one.

FYI: I had my starter replaced twice...the second one is fine...apparent bad batch.

GM should seriously consider an engine hand crank at this point. It is a lot more reliable.
