anyone use a Radar Detector?

I've got an Escort Passport 8500, I've had it for years and never had a problem with it.... I've had it hardwired in my trucks but I haven't put it in the new one yet, Either thinking about upgrading to the latest and greatest or just not using it (hard to talk your way out of a ticket if they stop you with one)

Rader detector's are pretty much useless now-a-days with the instant on laser guns. They have a pin point beam about the size of a pencil on your vehicle and the vehicles behind you wont even know you are being hit with the laser if they had a detector.

I am for the most part, I just always liked "knowing" where they were with the old guns

That's what keeps me thinking against putting it in because it won't "save" you and if you get pulled over you won't get a break with one

Had one when I was younger when the town cops drove with the radar on near constantly. No use for one now. Having one then taught me how to spot where they may be and just instinctively slow down. Knock on wood but one ticket in 13 years of driving.

I've got a passport max hardwired in. It works on some things. I jsut have to remember to not put too much faith in it because there are a good bit of cops I see lasering that it does not pick up on. I do still like the peace of mind. I also added the subscription package that connects to my phone with bluetooth so other drivers can update the system. I keep it off in town usually, only using it on trips.
