Can Navigation be added to MyLink after purchase??

In looking at trucks a salesman told me that nav can be added to mylink after the purchase with a software download. Has anyone done this? I know it's best to buy it like you want it but if it's a software download that is not a deal breaker.

I'm not quite sure if its capable with just a software update. I've seen kits on here selling for like 800$ to convert.

my understanding it is more than a software upgrade - there is a link on here showing a F Module and I believe an antennae that comes in a kit for 700 dollars. That is my understanding of what it would take to upgrade the system - I would ask them to throw it in the deal

find a new dealership and salesman, seems this one doesn't know what they are talking about and are just doing what they can to make a sale. Makes me wonder if they would stand behind the incorrect answer after the sale when they find out it could be done unless you went with the aftermarket option.

Nav was one of my must have items, my dealer was on the phone with some GM tech center and was told that while they could get the parts they wouldn't be able to get the software to update. They then offered to install one of those non-GM add on systems to try and close me. So I think OP's slasesman was just saying whatever to close the deal, and would just be so shocked when the truck couldn't be upgraded

I was told by my dealer it would cost $1800 dollars to upgrade, not sure if thats right or wrong but they said its way more than just a program/update.

They can add it, my friend had it done on his truck although now he's going through buy-back program. I would recommend just getting a truck that had it originally off the line because the version they added to my friends truck does not function the same.

If you're going to be charged for navi get the real deal

I just got off the phone with my dealer and they said nothing can be done it didn't come from the factory equipped with it. I was told it had Nav but it is what it is.. Do you know what exactly the dealer did to add the Nav to your friends truck? And how it differs? I'm pretty upset I'm left in the dust with no factory Nav in a 45k truck.

that's how much my dealer claimed it would cost to add one of those aftermarket systems to a non-nav display

If they told me it had nav and it didn't they would be paying for the aftermarket solution IMO.

He thought I knew he was talking about onstar maps or what ever it is. Not the factory Nav.. I'm like um.. What? It was a big misunderstanding. On top of that crap on a nit-pick note- I'm missing the illuminated rings around the knobs on the information center. Now I'm left with nothing I can do accept find the salesmen at a bar somewhere lol.
