As it turns out three of the seals had bad glue. The folks at undercover suggested they send me some glue and a new seal. They refused to send me a refund nor a new cover. Obvously their warranty isn't for crap. I disputed the charge with my VISA card and they are going to pursue a refund. In the mean time as I needed to use the POS to keep my stuff dry and secure I used some gorilla glue to re-affix the three bad seals. Seems to have worked but how long before the rest of the seals fail.... I'll update if UC decides to stand beind their product or contiunues to suggest I try and fix their defective two week old cover.

Wow thanks for the heads up for that undercover. I am very surprised they would do something like that since from what I see they cost more than many other. I am pretty sure I am going with truxedo since the pics look great to me and the price is not all that bad.

Update, I bought my cover through undercoverdirect.com, they refused to refund the product or have any involvement in the situation they suggested I pursue things directly with Undercover. The manufacturer said since the cover can be fixed its not defective just needs to be fixed. Maybe I'm too picky but, I feel like if I pay $665 for a cover I shouldn't have to take super glue to it three weeks after I install it. Essentially this vendor refused to authorize my return, in fact they said they would only pass the info onto the manufacturer. I told the seller that I would be sharing my negative experience with as many sites as possible if they didn't take care of me and they suggested that I would be breaking the law via 'defamation of charachater' and they could take me to court. I will be making a thread and sharing my communications with undercoverdirect.com once I get the final word from VISA that my credit is finalized.

When venting your frustrations just be sure to start with "In my personal opinion" as this simple phrase can help to avoid any defamation lawsuits. You didn't say that they suck, you just said that in your personal opinion they suck, which is an opinion. That phrase may not help if you make a statement of fact though so be careful. Word it correctly and hammer them, I would.

As for the OP, I had an Access Lorado on my '07 and was very pleased with it, I have a Lazerlite on my '12 and it's a great cover, but expensive.

I'm trying to decide on a tonneau cover and there are so many brands out there with so many positive/negative reviews that is hard for me to decide on which one to buy.

To be honest by looking over and over again on videos and on reality on some tonneau covers I still think the Avalanche tonneau cover looks and locks best (I do like those manual handles for each section).

Does anyone know if it possible at all to find such a tonneau cover for purchase for a 14 sierra?

Couldn't find anything by searching online so far.

I've seen some other people echo your thoughts and didn't find any covers like the avalanche one when searching, by "Avalanche like" I mean a cover with multiple, independent sections that are removed individually. All the aftermarket ones I've seen are either a multi-folding hard or soft cover, a roll up style or a hard shell cover style. I don't have a lot of personal experience with the Avalanche covers but have removed the tops a handful of times and when comparing the weight/size of those covers vs the ones from the aftermarket today, I expect the Avalanche style ones are substantially more expensive than the $600 to $900 range we see most hard folders in the market today.

Edit: I was curious and looked up what the replacement panels for the Avalanche cost, gmpartsclub was the only online vendor I found that listed them and they're basically $700 per section(times 3 sections) which includes the handles/latches etc but doesn't include the bed mounted rails

I installed one about 6 weeks ago. No complaints and i think its one of the best ones available.

I'm not 100% sure, but i think the GM hard folding cover is the fold-a-cover g4.

I've had once since July and no complaints. Others like the way it opens from either end and can be taken completely off in 5 minutes.

Glad to hear. Since no one had mentioned Fold-A-Cover, I was worried that I made a mistake.

When i placed my order, I had that added.

I initially didn't pay much attention to the Fold-A-Cover as I was looking for something that gave full(or close to it) access to the bed quickly(and without tools) so the Fold-A-Cover was out of the running since the front most panel doesn't fold up with the rest. After seeing some positive reviews of it here I took a closer look at it and ended up going with it after comparing to the Bak Fibermax and the Roll-X I was debating between. I really liked the ability to open at both the front and rear of the bed, the more secure latch points to the bed and how it sat above the bed instead of flush with the top(putting the rails at a higher risk of damage). When I thought about what I normally haul in the bed the Fold-A-Cover seemed like a better solution, even with the slightly higher time involved to get the covers completely off to give full bed access.

    • My 2025 Silverado 1500 had to receive a brand-new engine (long block) under warranty last month at only around 16,500 miles. Before the replacement, the truck repeatedly displayed "Engine Oil Level Low" warnings, even though the Oil Life Monitor still showed around 50% remaining after about 6,000 miles since my last oil change. After seeing the warning several times, I checked the dipstick with the engine cold, and the oil level was completely normal. The next day, the message escalated to "Add Engine Oil." At first, I assumed it was just a faulty oil level sensor, so I brought the truck to the dealership. After inspecting the engine, they found internal cylinder wall scoring and ultimately replaced the entire long block under warranty. Before this happened, I was planning to install a 4-inch lift and suspension upgrade on my truck. After needing a new engine at just 16,500 miles, I honestly don't see the point anymore. I also contacted GM to ask whether my vehicle qualified for a buyback, but I was informed that it does not at this time. Anyway, this experience has left me with serious concerns about the long-term reliability of this engine. I sincerely hope NHTSA expands the current investigation or recall to include 2025 model and performs a thorough inspection of affected vehicles. My biggest concern is that these engines may fail shortly after the powertrain warranty expires. If GM truly stands behind this engine, then at the very least, please consider extending the powertrain warranty to 10 years for affected owners. That would go a long way toward restoring customer confidence.
    • Without exception but then I'm the odd duck, right? I know what goes into that test, how it is calculated and thus how to beat it. But EPA values are often not beaten by the general public and the government has in past years adjusted the means and methods to come to those values to more closely approximate "Joe Average".    The only real trick to beating that EPA average is don't drive like "Joe Average".    It's the same method you used to profit from "Economic Migration" and in doing so beat the 'stats'. But you, like me, are not "Joe Average".     The thing you don't seem to grasp is this "Purchasing Power Index" isn't forward looking. It doesn't predict what it going to be but looks backward and states what it was. They are not telling us what the THINK, they are telling us what they MEASURED. Example:    Wife says "I'm going to lose 40 pounds by Christmas". May she does, maybe she doesn't but the doctors office who weighed her when she made that statement and again at Christmas only REPORTS what the RESULT was. You and I can banter about what was possible and what aunt Tilly did till the cows come home but the result is the result. Arguing otherwise is.....irrational. That's all I'm saying. This isn't about:      What you are calling a 'Statistic' is a RESULT not a CALCUATION and as a result the RULE. Like gravity as a rule, it can not be broken.
    • Just wanted to say thank you for posting this. Years later, your thread is still helping Silverado owners.   I bought my 2025 Silverado 1500 in January 2025, and I've had what feels like the exact same rattle since day one. After reading your findings, I believe my truck has the same issue with the cable carrier contacting the rear sliding window. To be honest, I had pretty much given up on pursuing the issue. It wasn't until I recently drove another brand's pickup that I realized just how quiet their cabin was—and how noisy mine has been all along. On my truck, the rattle happens on almost any paved road, gets even worse on rougher pavement, and I can even hear it during braking and acceleration.   I actually referenced your thread when submitting my case to GM, hoping they'll recognize this as a recurring issue instead of treating it as an isolated incident. The reason I reached out to GM first is because my dealership told me they would need to keep the truck for at least two days just to diagnose the problem. I was concerned that even after two days, they still might not be able to identify the source of the rattle before giving the truck back to me. I had also asked a few dealerships about this issue during previous service visits, but none of them seemed to know what was causing it or had a solution. That's why I decided to contact GM directly first, hoping they might already have an official repair procedure or guidance for this issue.   I also hope GM eventually comes up with an official fix for this problem. I have a feeling there are many Silverado owners experiencing the same rattle, but most either choose to live with it or simply don't know what the cause is.   Really appreciate you taking the time to document your diagnosis. Your post is still making a difference years later.
    • I have 2 choices.
    • Do you have access to BP fuels? Some stations have Silver 91 E-0 priced the same as their 93 E-10.  There is a local Marathon with 90 alky free for $6 a gallon but I go down the road to BP for $5-ish. They also have a 100 E-0 but that stuff is $10 a pop.
