Daily Driver Tires

I'm wondering, will a all terrain tire generally last longer than a mud tire on a daily driver? I have an 05 2500HD and I can't decide, MT Baja ATZ or MT Baja MTZ. I just need a tire that'll last long and perform well. Anybody run any of these two Mickey Thompson tires?

I've heard mud tires are pretty bad in snow but they look great, does anybody have experience with either a MT Baja ATZ or the MT Baja ATZ P3?

MTs can be worse than all seasons in snow. Snow is all about siping and MTs don't come with it

I live in an area where we only get snow about two or three times a year but I'd like to have decent traction in it, what is siping?

Siping is part of what makes tires good in snow. The rest is compound. This pic shows my Cooper ATP tread which is a "mud & snow" tire. You see the little sipes on top of each lug.

I did I spring and summer on my old 2000. They were awful (scary) on ice so during winter input a set of ATs on

What All Terrain tire would you guys recommend? I know the BFG AT KO, and then The Mickey Thompson ATZ's. I'd really like to get the BFG All Terrain with the white lettering on the sidewall, but I haven't found any in my size, 285/75/16, just found the blackwall. yze9a2us.jpg I just think the white lettering would look pretty neat on my truck. What about the Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac?

I had BFG' AT's and I liked them in winter too. The only reason I switched from them as an issue with the weights that I discussed in another post. I decided to try Durotracs and I love them. They work great in mud ( way better than Nitto Terra Grapplers) and they are winter rated and work great in snow.

I run bf and have little issue, and I'm pretty much always snow and ice. Supposedly cooper at3 are better on ice, but hopefully it will be a year or so before I have to look into that.

Think I might just look for some All Terrain BFGs. I found this pic on the Duramax Forum website.aguqeru4.jpg it's a 285 and looks pretty good on there.

What is this "snow" y'all speak of? Here in Arkansas, if it snows we just stay home.
