Hope this helps for those who need them. Figured I'd start a topic so people don't have to search other topics for the part #'s.

Took mine in today. I supplied the service advisor with printed copies of the attached documents with the Part no.'s highlighted. They of course told me that my truck was working as intended, so I asked to show them a High Country off the lot. After a little back and forth we got he new parts ordered, but do prepared for a little resistance (no pun intended) on this issue. The senior shop tech put in a call to his regional tech folks who said this would have to go higher up before they would get the parts ordered. He was actually really cool about it. All in all we got it done.....but I don't expect this be a cake walk for everyone.

I have been in this long saga with my dealership and GM about this radio knob fix also. After weeks of fighting with GM, they told me that this was a product change from when the brochure and advertising were printed. I raised holly hell with GM . I told GM, I bought this truck with the perception that the lights worked and now your telling me they don`t that`s false advertisement. Well, GM customer service sent me a voucher for $1000.00 to use on any GM accessory and installation or any GM Licensed product.

Finally had mine fixed after three tries. The dealer was very helpful. First time they replaced the whole unit and the two radio knobs were backlit but not the HVAC one. The ordered just the HVAC panel and received the wrong one so they ordered a new one. Came in today and they replaced the HVAC module and it is now backlit also! The dealer also threw in a free detail which is cool. Happy to have my truck at 100 percent and the dealer did an excellent job..

Take the money and run. In a couple of months go to another dealer and just tell them they stopped working.

Are you guys going to the dealer and demanding that they fix your lights because you paid to have working lights and the brochure shows the center stack with LED lighting and GM needs to pony up or are you playing dumb and telling the dealer they worked a week ago? A coworker of mine played the dumb route and got his replaced no questions asked...i think its all in how you present your case. Wait until you're due for a service before you go about and tell them you think you're having electrical issues cause the the center stack lights stopped working. Has anybody been denied going this route?

It cant be a date issue since some have them that work and some don't with truck built in August and September

It was related to a build date issue. From what I understand and heard GM ran out of the needed boards with the needed resistors to allow the led rings to light up. The rings and LEDs are in every Silverado build but some just don't have the dollar and change worth of resistors to make them illuminate. GM didn't want to stop the production line of trucks so they just thru in what ever worked at the time. Relating to the fine line printing of GM being aloud to make changes with out announcing exactly what.

But to answer your main question yes. I went to the dealer and asked for them to be fixed and it happened. I couldn't bring myself to lie about it.. Wasn't that serious and if you get caught up you'll look like a idiot. Ppl do it and it's worked for them and that's great. Just not how I would have handled the matter.

Im well aware of the issue, and fully understand why GM did what they did. However this issue is not consistent to a targeted build date. Some have working lights built in August, some dont, some have them that work with a build date in Sept, some dont. My co workers truck was built after mine...late sept. They did the same thing by sneaking 3.08 gears on several trucks equipped with 20" and 22" rims? And your approach is fine, however it seems plenty of members walk into their service depts and demand a fix throwing down advertising booklets, i paid $XXK and pictures of other members service write ups and get nowhere. See this issue can be looked at 2 ways, first is you bought the truck as it was built, you had the opportunity to test out all facets of the operations of the truck before you drove off the lot...so if thats the case, then i think GM has every right to tell you to take a walk. If you're of the mindset that GM lied to you, then why should you be upset if you tell the dealer your lights once worked; especially over $1 worth of resistors. If it really matters to anybody making a stink about the LED lights not working, and we know this is a hot topic for many of those who don't have working lights, then you can play the game to get GM to fix them, or try to win a battle on principle to where GM has already said....tough.

(Disclaimer: i am not advocating lying. Nor am i trying to insult those who have this issue)

Yeah you make sense with it. Guess everyone will have there own way of going about it. I just showed another truck on the lot that did work and it gave reason for the service manager to start a case with GM and it was eventually resolved in my favor. (4 weeks) I do agree most ppl get a lil wild by raising hell at the dealership over the issue.. And most dealers do say take a walk. It's the persistence and being stern with your words that gets their attention. I'm sure soon enough there will be a service bulletin as so many cases are being started regarding the lights. As for the gears I find that to be crazy.. If the window sticker says one thing and the RPO? Sticker says another I wouldn't let that fly but that's why it does pay off to do your own research now a days.

I think GM has been fairly deceptive with these trucks, why not throw 17" or 18" on the truck if you don't have the right gears...also the whole raising the prices back in October by $1500? Some dealers raised the price on previously existing stock....some didn't. I doubt GM will pay the bill to have $1 worth or resistors installed or swap $100s of parts to fix the issue in mass because of a parts shortage...in the long run it would of been cheaper to stop the line since there's a surplus of vehicle stock on hand so we're stuck being at the mercy of the dealerships service dept.

On a separate note and back on topic, i don't think its ever helpful to go to the Service Advisor and throw TSBs and info from forums in their face...its no different than going into a Dr's office and tell them what your condition is X and how they need to treat your condition with what medicine based in what webMD said. I think anybody on the receiving end would find that insulting. See plenty of novice mechanics are DIY know it alls and every professional mechanic and service advisor deals with them every day. Its all about respect and building a good relationship with the service dept. Arm yourself with the info from these forums, go to the service dept and if the service dept tries to BS you, or they give you wrong info, politely, say..."that doesn't make sense from how i understand the system to work..etc" or go somewhere else. Your way of asking to go look at another truck is a perfect solution, especially when they say it works as designed, so if another truck has working lights, then is that truck broken by their definition. Remaining calm, but appearing competent is the best defense. Demanding they refer to TSB X or throw "somebody on the Internet got their dealer to fix the issue by writing up the issue as X" and showing them a forum thread on your smart phone is just going to put people on the defensive and probably get the Service Writer to think and act on "well if you seem to know so much...go fix it yourself" many times these service writers and depts are the face and intermediary for the decisions the big wigs at GM made and they had no bearing in those decision...we need to remember that before we go making demands of them.

I played stupid and got mine fixed. Dealer was unaware of the issue so I went to the newest truck that just came in and showed them that they did light up. They ordered the parts and fixed it the first time I brought it in for the issue. I posted these to prove that mine were indeed fixed and part #'s. My service advisor got 2 calls now from members on here dealers asking about the warranty and whether to fix it or not. I can say my Chevrolet dealer where I purchased my vehicle truly cares about Chevrolet owners and their concerns.
