Truck Gone, New Car

So, what cars were the "finalists?".

Last time around for me was the power underrated WRX. The just released one is .7 seconds slower....guess they had to slow it down so it didn't make the STi look bad anymore.

The car's that were considered were, 2014 Cruze Diesel, 2014 Mitsu Ralley,2014 Ford ST, 2014 Subaru WRX, I even once considered a honda Civic Si? :(......... I think I even looked into Kia at one point but snapped back to reality lol. This was literally 5 months of searching and researching. Really, honda was thrown out the window asap, not my forte and I think honda is into more practicality than performance but I could be wrong, On the Buru and Mitsu, both came AWD but from reading the forums about quality and such, just not worth it price wise nor mileage. 25 Highway is what my wifes crappy 05 altima got and I wasn't having it. That can be said to the misu also same everything. Now, I was really into the Cruze until I found the GTI and started comparing. I wouldn't mind the diesel but seeing from others in Europe or UK, who have had the cruze diesel for a few years, they have had issues that have yet to be resolved and I just couldn't take the fact that there is no performance but mileage would have been incredible! Toss up came along when I saw the Ford ST. I really was back and forth and really started digging for issues on both GTI and ST. Now, the ST is quicker, off the line that is, and after that, GTI is door to door. Also, ST forums, guys are complaining about the "overboost" tech in it. Boost is ALL over the place and they can't get median numbers on dyno's. So every floored moment is different and inconsistent. Also some complained about the crappy interior and seating so it was a win for the GTI at the end. Yes, GTI is not without fault but that's why I grabbed a last year, really the 2014 is, but most issues have been worked out and have/had recalls and TSP's. This car, to me, is a have your cake and eat it too, plenty performance, excellent handling, perfect interior to include the seat that hug your body, and good gas mileage, averaging 30 with some "spirited" driving once in awhile :D The GTI has to be one of the best all around cars that can get you to point a to b without killing your wallet and having fun all at the same time.

I did the same as you year an half a go, added the mustang and Camaro. Ended up with the geneses coup. that thing was a blast. My brother has a dodge challenger rt smoke that, 2010 Camaro ss was close, mustang gt got by me but not buy much. The best part was it was cpo with full warranty under 20000 miles I already have two other Geneses so I knew about the reliability. But Im a truck guy, my toy is a truck my dd is a truck. But my wifes toy is an Acura intagra R we got new, so I can still drive one when the mood hits.

Genesis coupe does look sweet but wife said it needed 4 doors not two lol. I really want that TT v6 caddy but a 60k price tag is just ridiculous!

I hear you there, If I could bring myself to buy an CTS-V that's what I be driving. But my addiction has limits.

I found a used CTS v sport wagon but the wife wouldn't have it.

Because of the standard? Or double the price? There is one for sale in Texas with a few thousand miles and was a pro tuner house car and has 1000 HP for something around original MSRP. I might get get a nice used V wagon instead of a ZL1 or Vette in a few years just for practicality reasons. I have plenty of time to mull it over. Maybe Gen 6 Camaro out by then

More because it was a Sport WAGON! Ridiculous really. I told her she would get over the look but I also wanted something with good gas mileage so that nixed that one way early on.

Waaaaaat? Its not ridiculous at all. Some people need[want] room AND insane speed.

That AMG Benz wagon is ridiculous if any wagon is.

It is slower to 60 because you have to shift to 3rd with the new 6 speed. I just watched a video today on motor trends youtube channel

Car and Driver managed to do it in two gears.

That's fine but the C&D article says they followed the directions of a Subaru engineer and laid out a 4.8 second run to 60.

C&D is a lot smarter in 0-60 times. For instance, the KIA Sportage Turbo.

Motor Trend is around a SECOND slower. C&D said they saved a second because strangely it was having an issue when launched at higher RPM. So there just floored it from a standstill and it saved a second. I emailed the tip on MT asking if they would try it(MT said it launch unusually slow also). Never got an answer.

Probably a traction control issue, so you think MT would have caught that.

Did you ever take the new gen Mazda 3 for a spin? The 186 HP and 41 MPG sounds like it fit your requirements(although on the low end). Ita supposed to have one of the nicest interiors now, one of the best manual transmissions, has highest MPG in class, and was first Mazda completely engineered independently of any Ford Tech in a long time.

Genesis Coupe is sweet. I looked at one on trade for my truck. Would have loved to have it, but since I was looking for atleast a $200 a month lower payment it didn't make sense to buy one.

Yeah, I love the Sport Wagon's look. It's very aggressive.

Nice car, always miss a car when I fill up the truck! My brother has a '13 Golf R and has spent a few thousand on upgrades, is putting down 480HP at the wheels. AWD with race gas, it will snap your neck, expensive to run, but fun!
