actually, no the directions come from Mapquest. It's just using Onstar as a medium.

 

Don't grasp at straws. The directions may come via mapquest but it's OnStar transmitting them and their hardware that makes sense of it in the truck. Saying this should be free because you bought the truck is like saying my internet should be free since I already rent my apartment from the same people.

You keep bringing the issue up. All I'm saying is if the key fob features work for free, sending directions to pre-program my navigation should be free, but I would pay for a service that included JUST the directions part. The $20 a month is too expensive, when all I want is the ability to pre-program my in-dash navigation unit.

 

The rest of the Onstar service is the "premium" service you are referring to I don't care for or need.

 

Automatic Crash Response - I live in a busy enough area that I wouldn't need this.

Emergency Services - GMC Roadside is included with every new GMC to the original owner.

Hands Free Calling - I connect my phone via bluetooth.

Stolen Vehicle Assistance - If a thief wants it, take it. It's insured. I'll get a new one.

Roadside Assistance - Also included with GMC Roadside.

Remote Services - They key fob app does this for now for free.

Vehicle Diagnostics - Dont need it. I can maintain my own vehicle.

Turn-By-Turn Navigation - My truck has the in-dash Navigation, so these are pointless.
