Water leak in the roof

You're certainly right. Just saying that switching brands isn't going to improve your odds of getting a truck that never has an issue or issues. Luckily new trucks come with warranties.

Yep. If you really want to see some leaks, work on Ford trucks.

So, I finally took delivery of my 2017, 1500, 4wd, Crew Cab, Midnight, 6 days ago that I had to order! We have had rain for the last 4 days. I always back my truck in, slight incline at the rear of the truck. Needless to say, I went to drive my truck today, leak at my passenger visor, screw nearest the windshield. Took it to the dealer, service said he has had several issues regarding a leak. It doesn't matter if the truck is two years old, or cost $10.00, it shouldn't be leaking! I mentioned to them to check the windshield, ditch molding, and sun roof drains. Until I found this topic, I had no clue it was such a widespread issue. Now I know about the shark fin, third brake light, and rear window (mine has a power slider). I took it in a 0900 this morning, called them at 1400, they said they put a garden hose on it, no leak. All the rest of the time, they spent on putting in the big towing mirrors I ordered, and the three camera system as well. They finally called me back around 1700, said they will need my truck longer because the new camera system is not coming in clear, but the factory camera is fine. Also, they have no idea on how they will terminate the remote camera that will mount at the back of my car hauler so I can plug it in when the trailer is hitched up, what? I wish they would have fixed the problem of the leak before doing a add on, seems kinda logical to me. I will be spending some time tomorrow at the dealer watching them closely when they try to fix my original issue. I have 20+ years in vehicle development from Porsche to Chevy. I hate it when you go to get something, and you need to know more than the people you are dealing with know about the products they sell. they didn't even know about the camera system, I had to take my lap top in and show them what it was, and what the GM part numbers are. What ever happened to knowing your job, and taking pride in it?

Pretty much all trucks have 3rd brake light leaking issues.

Everything with a sat antenna is subject to leak

Everything with a sunroof is subject to leak.

Put all 3 on one vehicle and make hundreds of thousands of them, and you'll get what seems to be a lot of folks with these issues.

never leashed

I don't know about all that, my 2003 Avalanche never leaked, never....

It had son sun roof, rear window that completely came out, and did several times.

Which is exactly what I am saying. Every brand has the same leaks. But if you look at the forums for a Dodge or a Ford or a Chevrolet, you will think they all leak. But most of them don't.

It is my professional opinion that Fords have the most leaks, and by a pretty substantial margin.
I have done thousands and thousands of water leaks on the Fords.

I have done quite a few on GM's and Chrysler products as well, but I've done more on Ford's then pretty much everything else combined

Last night I climbed into the drivers side to find my 2016 Tahoe LTZ to find the seat soaked, as well as the steering wheel and then felt drops on my left leg. A ton of water was dripping out from between the windshield and the visor. I had to get somewhere so I drove like that, water pouring all over me. I could hear sloshing at one point. Wasn’t sure where the noise was coming from because it was dark. I read up and searched YouTube when I got home and found out about the issue with the antenna. So I dried off the roof, covered the antenna with plastic and sealed it up for the night. It also rained yesterday and this didn’t happen. Odd it happened so suddenly. Also, my driveway is flat. Thought it worth mentioning. I left the car running with the heater blasting after I sealed it up and got it mostly dry. Nervous about taking her in tomorrow. I just know they are going to look at me like I’m dumb and say, “did you leave the window down?” or something like that. Any news on if this is a recall issue yet?

So, I was driving yesterday and it was barely raining out and suddenly I have water dripping from the passenger side of the overhead console.  Mine is a 2014, no sun roof or anything and now there are water marks on there.  50K miles so out of warranty, was there any type of recall for this?

It's the XM antenna. Mine has been replaced 3 times. The last time I was told that's an updated gasket.

Thanks, how long did it take and how much was it?  Not sure why my last post was so small...

I don't know how much it was since they were all covered under warranty but it only took a day. I think they drop the whole headliner and the entire antenna gets replaced

Did the headliner look messed up at all when they put it back? I’m nervous about getting mine fixed. Driving around with it sealed up on the outside for now.
