Water leak in the roof

I had my leak replaced last weekend. We kept thinking it was the OnStar antenna because of the area of the leak, but it turned out to be the front windshield seal. They had to reseal the window. Leak gone.

I've had the seal around the shark fin antenna replaced because of a leak in the same area.

I'm in the leaky truck group also. Water coming from the overhead sunglass area. Headliner soaked on both sides of it. Thank god I took photos...I had enough and opened a case with GM...took it to the dealer...yes you have proof of a leak...we can't find it...don't know what to tell you...good luck and here's your truck.

GM rep said the samething...I goto another dealer on the 15th...they said they'll need the truck for days. I've had it with GM...I won't let this go. Guess I should've asked for the All Weather edition instead of the All Terrain. Edition.

I had the same leak it's the shark fin pos-leaked all over the stereo and water stained headliner dealership sent to body shop where they dropped headliner and siliconed the shark fin talked to about five other owners and same issue. Gm needs to put out recall and fix every truck regardless of weather or not it's leaking yet cause beleive me it will leak because of the crap design.

50000 grand gets you a truck with no paint protection on frame and no solution to fix it properly-transmission and transfer case "software issues!"that puts the truck into neutral when it wants almost killing anyone standing behind it on a hill including my wife who almost got run over by it.not to mention the transmission that decides which gear it wants to select,put truck in reverse and it goes forward almost running people over oh and how about the display that sometimes you have to restart the truck several times before it comes up.i read these forum posts and it makes me sad that I didn't research truck before I bought it cause beleive me I wouldn't have.thanks a lot gm for this poorly designed hunk of junk that I own.i will be sure to share my experiences with everyone I can so they don't have to go through this.it could be worse I suppose like my friends 2013 that had the airbags go off while driving causing him to collide with the sidewalk and suffering airbag concussion four months later gm finally fixes his truck out of "goodwill"and comes back with you hit the sidewalk that's what the black box says.well gm that's not the truth so I hope he sues and wins!!

good afternoon. my 2008 crew cab had to have the seal on the roof "the glass" 3 times. the first 2 seals were faulty, the 3re worked great. other things that can be wrong are: there are 4 drain hoses located between the headliner and the roof, if one becomes clogged with anything it will back up and the water enters the cab. if the seal on the glass if off at all it will allow more water in and it will fine its way under the headliner. the glass gasket is deisgned to be a "controled" leask since it is impossible to keep all of the water out of the vehicle. good luck!

Strange that there are so many problems with water leaks especially with sunroof equipped trucks. To date I have not had a drop of water leak into my '09 Impala and it has a factory sunroof and the car sits outside all year round.

I haven't had a drop of water leak into my '14 Silverado w/factory sunroof and it also sits outside all year long.

Just had mine at my local dealer

2014 SLT Sierra All Ter.

Only get water leak around center roof consul when sunroof sun shield is open (s/r closed) - no leaks any other time

Dealer just advised me they are replacing the whole sunroof assy complete.

Ill keep you all posted on the end result.

Update :

New Sunroof seal + New Antena seal was final outcome..

Have my truck back as of yesterday ( 3 times through carwash at dealer with me inside) - no issues found

Big thunderstrom also last night - no signs of any leaks this morning

Hopefully all is good for the future.

I've had nothing but headaches with leaks. Been to the dealership a half dozen times and they've finally thrown up their arms and said they can't fix it, it's a design flaw and they've involved the GM engineers because they have another customer with the same problem.

This is TOTALLY unacceptable for ANY vehicle let alone one with a sticker price of $70,000! I'm just going to let it keep leaking and short something out under the dash, and cost GM some real money.

My 2015 Sierra with sunroof just started to leak yesterday after sitting over night in the rain. Appears to be coming in at the XM antenna. Booking a trip to the dealer next week.

Instead of wasting your time, try applying some back RTV under that antenna gasket. You may fix the problem for good without replacing anything. If all they do is replace the defective gasket with another defective one (=bad design) of the same kind, what good is such a repair?

Recently had water come in at the console above the rear view mirror. Came out at both sides of the console. The service dept said he had seen others when I asked. They are having a water leak company look at it. I want a full report on what they find. Not cool to have water coming inside a vehicle. Who knows where it's going!?

I had same problem with the water leaking in at exactly the same location as shown in your photo. I was out of town so I bought a tube of silicone caulking and filled the entire windshield cavity between the windshield and the roof from one side of the truck to the other.

This stopped the leak but is only a temporary fix because I don't know how long the silicone will last.
