Water leak in the roof

Having the same Onstar, remote app start, CAL, No GPS issues!

BRAND NEW GMC Sierra 15! only 2 weeks old. Unacceptable.

I am extremely frustrated. This is my second car in a row with problems.

I just had the most frustrating year with Jeep and turned out to be a lemon, and now a 2 week old truck with issues.

This is absolutely ridiculous. And it's not like this car is cheap either.

Just dropped the car off at the dealership this AM, the service advisor said he'll call me later today but thinks the part is on backorder and will have to keep for several days... REALLY!

Find out if it has anything to do with the antenna and if water is getting into it. Are you getting any water in the cab?

Find out if it has anything to do with the antenna and if water is getting into it. Are you getting any water in the cab?

Just picked truck up.. Part is on backorder.

I mentioned that to service advisor, he said he's seen that but isn't the case here.

There isn't any water, don't jinx me LOL.

He said its the onstar module that needs to be replaced.

I'm upset that I'm paying for a car with navigation that I can't use properly.

So far the dealer has 1. Replaced the windshield and gasket

2. Replaced the shark fin gasket

3. Replaced the third brake light and seal

4 . Replaced something in the sunroof that was supposed to fix the leak

Have an appointment Monday as it is still leaking. Is it time to expect them to replace the truck, I mean it's a 62,000 truck, you'd think they could fix it, not to mention all the damage done by the water that we can't see and/or won't reveal until later. Opinions please.

Correct me if I am wrong, do you have a 2014 2500 and if so isn't that year 2500 a GMT-900 platform??? I ask because the antenna and everything is completely different and may be a different problem as seen on the K2XX platforms.

Do you have any pics and where abouts is the water coming?

Have they checked the sunroof drain tubes to make sure they are not clogged or disconnected somehow? Volkswagen vehicles used to have persistent water leaks due to this problem. Yes, this is pathetic for a $ 62k truck. Recently I saw a High Country edition like yours with a $ 66k+ sticker. That does not mean it does not leak.

I purchased my new 2015 cc silverado a month ago and has not been the best experience starting with the dealer the truck came from must have had a midget clean the snow off the roof with the snow rake leaving 15 yes 15 dents in the roof. Next off today went to vacuume out the truck and saw a puddle of water on the pass side against the kick panel. I took off all the trim and pulled back the carpet to reveal sm puddles under the carpet and insulation and the foam piece under the glove box. I am beside myself right now. This truck was $48,500 and this is what I get. It has just over 1k miles and have owned it for a month. This is my 7 th new Gm and will probably be my last.. Going to the dealer tomorrow can't wait to see what they say.

Hello, Just picked up my truck from service, replaced shark Fin due to leak as many others I have heard. My question is on the seal, the new seal, like the old, has a gap in the back. Is that supposed to be there? I saw it when it was leaking and thought that was the reason it leaked. Why would there be a gap? Appreciate any info. Thanks

When mine was replaced they also used sealant and yes, the new one had a gap also. Why it has a gap remains a mystery though.

When mine was replaced they also used sealant and yes, the new one had a gap also. Why it has a gap remains a mystery though.

The antenna is not a newer design, it will be the same as the old one. The seal that you are seeing is not the main seal. There is another seal within in the bottom part of the antenna that seals against the body. It is more like a closed foam gasket. When where you guys getting yours leaks? during the winter(freezing) or summer and how bad??

Mine right after I bought it, fall and hard rain. Hit a stop sign and water dripping from visor, that's why I thought that gap was it. I put tape over it and drove it for a month until I got it in and no leaks. Seems like that gap would be an issue...

All Sierra owners, please check your trucks....

I found my leak today. For a long time I have noticed wet carpet under the driver's side floor mat. Never could track it down, until now. It wasn't terribly bad.

It just got significantly worse. Saw one small "water trail" on the inside of the rear window. Upon further investigation, found this:

Off to the shop tomorrow. I have a funny feeling this isn't going to be fun. Passenger side is heading down the same path, but so far dry.

Notice the staining on the roof liner. That is new since a crazy rain storm this past week.

I think this a 2014 problem only as the 2015s use a different antenna. I had a 2014 for 13 months before it developed the leak. It looks like a little bit of the marine grade 3M sealant would do the trick, however the headliner needs to be dropped to loosen up the antenna screws and to do the job correctly!

A $0.01 gasket can cause a $1000 repair bill easily...I read bout some people having so much water going down the A pillar where all electrical connections were getting fried with all the water getting inside...
