5.3L here with 3.42.

Had a 2011 F150 with the 5.0L.

The Ford sounded like a race car. The Chevy sounds like a luxury car. The 5.3L is just that smooth.

The 5.3L, while feeling much slower is considerably faster than the Ford.

I think it's all relative to what you are used to.

I have a 2014 Silverado with the 5.3, and its a great engine. I also have 3.08 gears. No complaints from me. I get 22.4 mpg on the highway and 17 in the city.

No complaints whatsoever!! I only have 2k miles on my truck, and I already put in a K&N Air Filter, and a Flowmaster Exhaust (40 Series) to give it a little growl......

Damn, it sounds great.

Seems like most guys on here saying the 5.3 is a dog and 6.2 is a beast.

The hp and torque rating are they overblown?

I am wondering if anyone is happy with there 5.3 or does everyone wish

they had the 6.2???

I am looking at the 5.3 with 3.73's and am wondering if i should just keep

my 07 6.0 with 4:10's. I was hoping the 5.3 with 3.73's and the 6 speed

would be comparable to my truck with the 4 speed. problem is there

are hardly any 6.2's or 5.3 with the 3.73's to test drive around here.

Saemonster, what will you be doing with this truck? If you pull alot then get 6.23.73s if you pull very little then get 5.3 3.73s! If you like to drive fast get the 6.2 no question but the 5.3 wuth 3.73s will be an awesome truck!!! Ive been trying to get my dealer to order a few 5.3s with 3.73s because I think its just what the truck needs!!! I actually think the 5.3 will do better on gas around town with3.73s!! The difference in these engines and your 6.0 with 4.10s will not be huge but the truck itself will be an awesone upgrade and you will prolly make the truck payment in gas mileage difference over the 6.0!!! The 5.3 is no slouch!! Its just that the 6.2 is a racecar bread engine and it shows when you are driving!!! The 5.3 with 3.73s will honestly prolly outrun most any truck you race apples for apples but the 6.2 is faster!! If I had a 5.3 with 3.73s it would do everything I ask of it as far as in the wrk force!!! Very capable truck!!

I have a 14 5.3 with the 3.73s and love my truck has plenty of power and so far I'm averaging 17 mpg around town. My best average so far is 21.4 mpg and I think that's great for a 4x4 crew cab with max tow.

I am extremely pleased with my 5.3 with the 3.42 rear end. It does everything I expect out of a CC 4x4. Plenty of power and since it's warmed up I'm averaging 18.1 MPG in the city. Truck has roughly 8500 miles on it. I've never wished I would have gotten the 6.2.

I'm Just saying....

What will I be doing with the truck----well I have a boat about 4k lbs that I will pull on a regular basis.

I also have a travel trailer that is about 10K loaded. It sits on a permanent campsite so I dont move it

back and forth. I do want the ability to tow it if needed which may or may not ever happen. If I were

going to tow it on a regular basis the 6.2 would be my choice but I think the 5.3 would move it if I needed

to move it for service or for some unforseen reason. The 5.3 with 3.73 is rated for 11K so I would be under

the rating which is actually 500 more than my current truck that pulls the camper great. I would not be

afraid to pull it anywhere and I mean anywhere mountains or whatever with my 6.0 and 4.10's.

My 6.0 is pretty good on gas I can get 19 on the freeway going 70 because the 4 cyl mode works great.
