Still a Problem

Thanks Karnut, I will try that. I have put it in manual before and just ran through the gears with the thumb shifter, and it was fine, no jerk, or lag at all. Didn't think about starting out in m5 and just leaving there until I am above 55.

My truck had the EXACT same problem!

I called the dealership within the first few days of ownership. They made an appt for me 4 or so days later. Long story short..., my truck was in the dealership for 21 days. They replaced a few items (all transmission related) until they finally found what the 'real' problem was. The 'real' problem was my torque converter. I wish I knew more about mechanical things to remember what else they replaced that wasn't the problem. I remember going to check in my truck one day and they showed me this piece that they replaced from my transmission that looked like a pac man board...., ha...., whatever that thing is.

Anyway, my truck shifts how it's supposed to now. Yours won't until you get it to a more responsible dealership, IMO.

Good luck

Yes it's the six speed. The tune made a big difference but didn't completely cure it.

Not sure if it can be captured or not, and also do not know if you have just the tune from blackbear or you have the device (cannot recall the name) that can load programs into pcm. If you have the device, can it capture the trans activity to help Justin to try and fix it? If the tune was done at one of the tune meetings, your truck would not have been cold enough to duplicate the issue. Maybe a capture of a cold run will show something.

He saw it on the log. It's a common problem on the trans and some guys have gotten new valve bodies to fix it. I don't feel like dealing with it. The dealer couldn't duplicate it so I'm not wasting my time. It's clearly not hurting anything if it's gone 60k miles.

I would think it would shorten the life of the clutch pack and/or band by having it slip during gear change. It will also run the tinniest bit warmer as well. As long as hydraulic parts are not slipping after you feel the flare up go away, it will not likely hurt anything in the short run. Chances are you will give up the truck before the trans gives up on you.

If it was me, I would likely have had it fixed. I am one of those that once I find something, and also find out how to make it happen, my driving pattern will change to make it happen every time. I am not one to change driving habit to make it stop.

I know what makes it happen. It does it when cold. It did it going to and from the dealer. They just were lazy or whatever. The truck is being replaced next year so I could care less since it'll be under warranty still. My time is too valuable to continue wasting time on a issue that isn't my problem

    • Real Truck handles the warranty via GM.  We don't submit a warranty claim with GM, we have to submit it with Real Truck with a specific email/phone number.  Real Truck determines if the issue is covered or not based on the issue and pictures submitted.
    • Some clarification may help with some of these issues.   - Rev Industries is/was the division of BAK (now Realtruck) that makes covers under the OEM names.  So if you see one with a Ford logo on it, or if you are buying the GM Accessories cover, you are essentially buying a BAK G2 cover with different branding.   - Rev Industries now markets under RealTruck "Advantage."   - As of May 1, 2025, the Advantage covers now have a 5 year warranty.  Anything before that was a 36/36K warranty.   - Parts for the covers are available from Realtruck or BAK.  The email address to reach them is [email protected] or you can call them at 818-365-9000   - If the entire cover has to be replaced, you have to go through your local GM dealer.  Service dept opens an RO, notes the damage and submits it as a warranty claim.  Keep your paperwork handy so they can confirm when you purchased it and it's within the warranty timeframe.  Once the warranty claim is approved, Parts orders the replacement cover.  When it arrives at the dealership, service will remove and install the new one for free as labor is included under warranty.   - The Advantage covers are not the latest and greatest Gen 3 covers.  They still use the old school clamps, elevator bolts, etc...If you want the newer technology, consider buying your cover in the aftermarket world.  That way, if you have an issue you can deal directly with the manufacturer.   - Finally, RealTruck has a program with many of their authorized dealers that doubles the warranty to 10 years if the authorized dealer does the install.     Hope this helps.
    • Welcome to the group!  My '22 just crossed 150K miles.  Runs perfectly.  Oil pump belt will be done in the next 30 days or so and onward hopefully for another 150K.  Love the truck.
    • Still looks like a rivet to me in the pics, I don't see a nut and none of the pics show the head of the screw. But if you says so.....
    • Thanks for all the help so far!   I did try right from 2026 right down to 2021, and only from 2023 down lets me select the option for tire psi change, but I get the vehicle not supported error!   I'll definitely try it under Chevrolet after work today, and I'll get the sensor number from gm for my truck tire sensors. And I'll let you know if it works for me under Chevrolet!   And if that doesn't work, I'm going to guess that what @Atlas said about maybe I have a different body control module could be true!
