Chrome door handles on 2012 Silvey...

Hi all, i recently purchased my 2012 Silverado crew cab Z71. It came with the black door handles, just curious how difficult it is to swap them out for the chrome. Probably not many people want to do this, but i dig a little bling here and there.

Thanks!

I had to replace 2 of my chrome handles that broke (cheap plastic construction). I had help from my neighbor who is a auto glass man, so it was simple for him. I believe I could manage to do it by myself but it would be a lil work. The most important thing you need to remember is take it easy poping the door panels off, so as to not damage any of the snap studs. Just work the door panel off slow and don't try to just rip it off once you get it started. Do it yourself, its not that tuff. If you get in a bind look up an auto glass guy for help.

Pull the door panels and the rest is self explanatory. The door panels are sometimes tricky as some have screws and pop out pins and other years may have lift off type hangers. Youtube your make model and door panel removal and see how it is done. The door handles are easy after that. First door will take you an hour, second, third and fourth are 10-15 minutes each after you figure it out..

I did a friends 13 2500HD a couple months back. Not difficult at all. Good luck!

I've got this going on, too. The kids are getting band-aid-worthy cuts about once a month, so I've gotta do this.

The dealer did 2 others under warranty at under 50K miles. Does anyone know if they're just comping these?

If I have to do it myself, do I get an aftermarket one, or GM? Is RockAuto the place to go?

Many Thanks,

Not sure if they are under warranty but it is not that hard at all. I would go ebay for them.
