2013 Avalanche low battery/start vehicle warning

3 times now after sitting for approx. 5 minutes with the engine off and the radio on I have gotten the message on my cluster saying "low voltage please start vehicle". I am not sure what is going on here because we had several nights in the minus teens this winter and my truck has always cranked fast and started easily. Certainly the touch screen and the radio can't draw the battery down that fast!

its time to take the truck for warranty and have them check the battery and charging system

Mine has done that off and on since new. Never really been an issue

^{After the warning it still starts like nothing is wrong... I did check the voltage via the idiot gauge and it was on the low side of the white.}

Had exactly same thing on my 2010 randomly throughout the years...usually in cold weather. Never had any real issue with the battery.

Don't forget cold weather sucks life out of a battery so using it without the engine running will weaken it faster... Hence the message imo.

I get that same "Battery Low, Start Engine" message pop up from time to time on my 2011. Does it when the key is in the accessory position, after approx. 5 minutes. I haven't found any issues with the battery or electrical system. I replaced my battery a few months ago as it was getting weak on cold starts, but I still will get the message. I think it's a glitch in the trucks programming as I have almost 68,000 miles now on my 2011 and it's never caused any issues for me so far, nor can I find any physical issues with the truck. I'm not worried about it on my truck at all, I just made a note of it for the time begin.

Same here. I get it all the time on my truck after sitting with the radio on and key in accy. It has been happening starting the first month I bought the truck new in June. Never a problem starting the battery. First time was at a drive in movie with a double feature. I let it go the whole first movie before starting the truck and let it run about 10 minutes during intermission. Then when I shut it down for the second movie, it came back on within a few minutes. Still no problems starting after the movie. It does seem to pop up much quicker when it is colder outside. I think it is just an ill designed idiot message. Besides, I think the system is designed to automatically shut down all electrical systems in the truck if the battery is truly being run down and it gets to like 20% or something. Enough for it to turn the motor over to start it.. That message is a common complaint on these forums by a lot of owners. I guess we could all run to the dealer under warranty but they are going to tell us we have to start the truck when it tells us to.

But when I was a kid, we could open all the doors and the trunk, fire up the stereo with amps and woofers and speakers and let it rip for many hours out in the woods around a Keg and not have a problem with the battery holding up.

Same issue here.... Lots of electronics... Actually had a flat battery after leaving my truck at the airport for a week... -20 degree weather didn't help that though I ordered a summit racing battery cut off switch so I can switch it off if I have to leave it sit like that again.... Dealer checked it out and all is fine, new battery too
