Mpg for new gas 2500

I've had the same experience comparing my 2008 LTZ 2500 Crew 4.10 and my current 2016. The 08' wouldn't hold 6th in a strong head wind and definitely not on the slightest grade. The heavier 2016 holds much better and will stay in 6th all day long in heavy winds and light grades. On paper the two versions don't look much different but obviously they've done a much better job with refinement/driveability on the L96.

That was a difference in transmission tuning...I was told by the service department that GM remapped the trans tuning sometime in 2011/2012 because they had too many complaints about frequent shifting. I think they actually went too far the other way...

I want 4.56 gears, 6th gear is useless on these trucks, would keep the same mileage and actually be able to do more then coast down hill in 6th.

I've said since day one that if I was to ever research this truck I would have skipped 4.10 and went straight for 4.56. The dual overdrive would make up for it....

Nothing is stopping any of you from dropping 4.56's in your trucks... so why don't you.

Are you offering to pick up the tab?

Not worth the expense on a truck I only expect to have another three years...I'll buy the next one with 4.10s.

If I don't go another direction...

Not a chance. But just wondering... see the same guys complaining thread after thread but do nothing about it... If you dislike it enough you would spend the money... but I guess complaining about your truck online is a lot cheaper lol. I have bought about 5 new trucks over the past 4 years and they were all more or less either nightmares or just fails... sold them all lol. Maybe some day I will get a good truck haha.

I guess lol. I still want to drive a new 6.2 Ford with 4.30s but as a supercab short box and not a school bus... or a dually. Pretty much have to order that combo though... My guess is in stock form it won't feel much different but with some mods it should be alright. The problem I have with Ford though is to get options I want otherwise I have to buy a lot higher trim package than with GM with is unfortunate.

If I had thought harder about this when I bought the truck new or would have had the toys then that I do now, I would have done it...it's a 2012, with 120k on the clock; not worth dumping that kind of money into at this point. Next truck...

If mine ever annoys me for power I am just dropping on a TVS 2300 and headers lol. Done. Can run it through my company as "maintenance" items haha.

Do any of the major header manufacturers make long tubes for the 2015+ 6.0's? I haven't been able to find any.

Chassis didn't change, just the sheet metal on top. 11 and up is all the same. I would just use the Speed Engineering ones for the half tons... they fit and don't cost $1800 lol.

I guess I didn't realize that it was that similar. Excellent info, Thanks!!
