Dash light sensor...backwards??

Guys my new to me 2013 Silverado LT has a weird situation..When I turn the drl off with the light switch, it doesn't turn my dash lights off. I'm talking about the green backlight behind the Speedo etc. In fact, I literally can't turn it off. They stay green and lit all day....until night!! Then if I turn my lights off, the dash goes dark ! Just confirmed this today when in the car wash. Headlights off, dash lights on before going in, and sure enough dash lights turn off as soon as I got inside and it got dark.

 

Is this a simple wiring or fuse being backwards or is there something else at play here....am I an idiot and just can't figure out how to turn them off??

To be lit during the day and unlit at night? I am almost positive it was the opposite on my 07 I don't see why they changed it?

Silly question but is your brightness knob turned all the way down or something?

You don't have something laying on top of your sun sensor do you? The dash lights shouldn't be on in bright sun with the headlights set to auto.

I've turned my brightness knob up and down to no avail.

 

Where's the sun sensor? That sounds more like the culprit. But why would it go dim at night then tho

I actually tested putting something on top of my light sensor --- the dash lights turn off. Makes no sense why it would be dark in the dark and lit in the light. It must be backwards.

 

I called my stealership and the service guy tried to convince me that it was functioning properly, and that there was NO WAY I could turn my dashboard lights off.

 

So I opened my manual, and on page 6-3 I read "When your DRL system is on, the taillights, parking lights, and instrumental cluster lights should all be off"

I'm going to bring it there with the book and have them explain to me how the manual is wrong I guess

Normal. Mine is exactly the same. There is no way to kill the backlight during the day.

Think I am having same issue. Battery in truck died while I was deployed, partner did not start it like I asked!! But ever since then, my dash lights work in the day but go out at night. Like he said in the beginning, seems like it is backwards. Yes, tried the dimmer knob, yes replaced the whole switch, same issue.
