In the ike gauntlet they did with ram it slowed all the way down to 40 mph by the time they made it to the top.

fun videos. They did point out the biggest thing that bugs me about the gm diesels, the placement of the def tank and now the fact that it is the hardest and most inconvenient to refill. Hope they fix this when they redesign the frame in the next few years.

It bothered me at first and still think they should make it wider and shallower. But as far as filling, after all the horror stories ive read about people somehow putting def in their fuel and costing up to 20k to fix. I dont mind lifting my hood every 5k miles. Anyway with the 2015s the def top off is done by the dealer at oil change for the first 2 years.

Funny that the "outdated" powertrain was faster...

 

As for the DEF tank, someone on either here or GMInside made a good point about chassis cab buyers. With the tank out of the way there is no need to relocate it if a customer is putting a workbox or dump bed, etc on there and have to relocate the DEF tank if it was mounted out back on the frame. This could explain the tank's placement.
