if you get a clear bra you will not have any issues... GM will not do anything for getting rock chips on your bumper.. even if they repaint it its just going to chip again

Unacceptable KMGZ400... I'm fighting it

There is no recall number for paint issues. I just complained to GM Service on here, email GM Customer service as well as GMC, post up on their Facebook and Twitter pages.....you will get help.

Thanks Cliff14Denali, I'm not giving up on this, I know what's right, & they, GM, is NOT !

I checked mine again yesterday. My front bumper has at least 100 chips, the plastic above it, and the hood have 0. Its limited to only the bumper.

Exactly, Isriam, if there was an issue where they thought the paint wouldn't hold up on a steel bumper, then, THEY SOULDN'T HAVE PAINTED THE BUMPER !! Other companies have painted steel & not had this issue ! I refuse to put on any 3M protective film, etc.. This is a GM issue & they WILL fix it.

Just a thought: if GM agrees to repaint your bumper one time under warranty, why not request to have paint gravel guard plastic coating applied first, then the paint? This way chipping will be greatly reduced. You will have orange peel texture on the bumper, but no chips.

Once I got mine painted I waited 30 days and had Xpel paint protection done.......worth it. Basically GM said the paint fix was a 1 time deal so that's why I did the Xpel.

If I'd know that the front bumpers were this prone to chips, I would have had a protectant applied the day that I bought the truck.

Please continue to report this. I reported it to my service advisor and he acted like most people and said road rash, nothing they can do about it.

My 2014 Sierra AT is doing the same thing...washed it this morning...and I guarantee GM won't do a thing about it...what a crock. I am taking it in anyway. 5000 km's on a 50k truck, is utter crap.

If GM agrees to repaint your bumper one time, insist that they apply the gravel guard spray under the paint. This way possibility of future chipping will be greatly minimized. The only penalty is orange peel texture, but that's a lot better than paint chips. Lower portions of doors are often gravel guarded on various vehicles at the factory.

If it does get painted...fingers crossed...I will be pro active for sure...I had no IDEA about these issues with the painted bumper. my 2011 Silverado had the nice chrome one...never an issue and I have had vehicles in the past with painted bumpers....

My service adviser said they would repaint mine one time for me. They claim its "normal" and that its probably rocks from other vehicles. I have 10k miles and over 100 chips. They will say its not their problem, and it happens to all vehicles, so be prepared. I don't think they will ever consider it a GM issue until more people complain about it.

I will be putting something over it when its repaired though, because on a black vehicle it looks terrible.

Mine is Burgundy,,,and I agree....looks terrible...I am going into the dealership today. Fingers crossed.

Dealership is going to fix it for me and apply a plastic type tape on it. They used the same product behind the mud flaps of my 2011 to prevent chaffing. I am very pleased with this response. They will contact me in the coming weeks to get it in the body shop.

Well I've only owned my Denali for a year and I live in Atlanta where there's no big road obstacles to chip my bumper as bad as it did. But low and behold I had like 50+ chips. I took it to the dealer and they said they would cover it under warranty but just once. So now it's nice and new again. I think GM is realizing they have a problem because before the dealer did anything he took photos and turned it into GM and they approved it. So they are aware of the issue.
