I believe the plastic bumper would deform from the pre-heat and then the final baking processes.

I don't know about you but my bumper is steel which I'll have powdercoated in black to match my truck. Is the OP's bumper covered? Maybe I missed that part.

He said Denali, and I am pretty sure my Denali as a plastic bumper. At least the, upper fascia is plastic. Maybe the bumper is metal? I'll have to check sometime.

Well I've only owned my Denali for a year and I live in Atlanta where there's no big road obstacles to chip my bumper as bad as it did. But low and behold I had like 50+ chips. I took it to the dealer and they said they would cover it under warranty but just once. So now it's nice and new again. I think GM is realizing they have a problem because before the dealer did anything he took photos and turned it into GM and they approved it. So they are aware of the issue.

My Denali is a year old as well but you wouldn't know it for the chips on the bumper. My last Denali I owned for 8 years and I don't recall seeing one chip on that color matched bumper.

I am going to print off this post and hand it to my dealer as they laughed when I asked for it to be repaired.

mine is also being repainted one time by the service team. you are gonna have to push them to do it.

Mine was looked at this morning by dealer. If they don't repair it I would like them to replace with chrome. The Dealer has been great so far so we will see.

My 2015 Sierra (white) is 5 months old and the front painted steel bumper is chipping as well. After reading all the posts on this forum concerning this apparent common problem I took my truck to the dealer this afternoon. The Service Advisor and Service Manager looked at the chips and stated they would have the bumper repainted under warranty. They both acknowledged this is a common problem. I am paying to have the 3M protector put on after it is repainted. I asked if GM would pay 1/2 of the 3M protector. Uhhh - no. At least i tried. Thanks to everyone who posted on here. Knowledge is power.
