Mike1220 Posted November 27, 2014 Author Posted November 27, 2014 Between this topic and the hid retrofit topic I got some good ideas for my truck, thanks No problem. Glad to have been of assistance! If you have any questions let me know!
Mike1220 Posted November 27, 2014 Author Posted November 27, 2014 Planning to take advantage of the Black Friday sales, won't be much in savings but still something's better than nothing! I'll be getting the VLEDs V3 triton soon for the front turn signal. I checked last night, I just realized how big of a PITA it is to change the turn signal lights. Looks like you either have to awkwardly reach for it or remove the headlights from the body for much easier access. Joy [emoji19]

I was thinking about removing it but decided to keep it. I'm gonna use the savings on TRS website for my hids and projectors this weekend. Gonna order those led tailights eventually too

I just ordered my projectors from TRS. Total was $250 and some change after shipping and handling. I'm leaving the ambers. But I am going to tint them.
Mike1220 Posted November 29, 2014 Author Posted November 29, 2014 Today I accomplished a few things for/on the truck. I ordered all but one of the remaining necessary parts for my headlight upgrade this Christmas. Thanks to Black Friday sales and coupon codes that some have shared on this forum, I have managed to save right around $150 (would've been $200 but with my savings, I decided I would also get halos for my rigid pods in my fog lights ) and I also finally got the diode mod to work for the fog lights on with high beams, also rewired my second set of lights on the side of my cab to work with my puddle lights since running them off the cargo lights (which are on a diode to turn on with the reverse lights) would make everything on the reverse light circuit blink 3 times and then shut off. So now all works properly! And lastly I made it so my color changing footwell lights will turn on and off with the dash lights thanks to Toddfather finding the wire under the dash. Don't have to worry about turning them on and off anymore when I get in or out. Great day in my book! EDIT: forgot to mention I also finally received and added the pass through harness from Amp so I don't have to unplug my steps when I want to plug in my tuner.

Mike1220 Posted November 30, 2014 Author Posted November 30, 2014 Any update on the DiabloSport Intune? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Yes, for a canned tune I do notice that it does a lot for the truck. I have disabled the speed limiter (that was a pretty fun night I must say flying at 115 in this big ole truck!) and I have the hard transmission shift and it feels better than the stock shifts which felt to me like they almost slipped sometimes and were way too soft. I have noticed an increase in mileage though. I have the tune set to the Diablo MPG booster but I have some of the settings done so that I can still have extra power when I want it without having to change tunes. The truck gets better as you have the tune installed for longer. I would assume it's because the truck is adapting to improve. Just my thoughts. I have seen an increase of around 2-3 MPG btw compared to before the tune. And that's with temperatures dropping a bit lower than what they were so maybe it'll turn into an increase of 3-4 when the air warms back up hopefully. Overall, for a canned tune, I think the Diablo intune is worth it. But not as a completely permanent solution. I plan to get a custom tune done later but not till after a few mods so that the custom tune can be more beneficial for the long run.

Mike1220 Posted December 1, 2014 Author Posted December 1, 2014 For some reason my add picture button on Tapatalk isn't working again [emoji58] must be a bug since I'm Beta Testing the new version right now. But as for the truck, today I plastidipped and glossified the area between the side windows so it all looks solid and not broken up. Looks much cleaner. Also painted the Z71 and SIERRA emblems on the side along with the door molding and removed the antenna and went for a 2 hour drive. Didn't notice any issues with radio reception without the antenna. Hopefully will be able to post a picture soon!
Mike1220 Posted December 1, 2014 Author Posted December 1, 2014 First time using photobucket so hope this works properly! EDIT: Success [emoji4]
YZFSteve Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 First time trying to use photobucket so hope this works properly! EDIT: Success [emoji4] I really like that look, do you have a close up of the area you painted on the doors? I never thought about painting the door moldings, looks good man.
Mike1220 Posted December 1, 2014 Author Posted December 1, 2014 I really like that look, do you have a close up of the area you painted on the doors? I never thought about painting the door moldings, looks good man. Thanks! And the only close up I have is during the painting process. I can get some pictures sometime tomorrow possibly. But here's what I have Btw, if you do paint the door molding. Do yourself a huge favor and don't try to tape off the molding perfectly. Just go ahead and leave about a 1" gap between the tape and the chrome molding and spray dip there and just peel it off after it dries. It's much much easier that way since there is a gap between the body and the molding since there is 3M tape behind it. I tried masking it off at first and got aggravated. Tried this route and it made life so much simpler Edit: Better picture showing everything I did Now I'm just debating on whether to leave the tailgate emblems alone or dip the SIERRA and SLT emblems back there. Decisions decisions.

Mike1220 Posted December 1, 2014 Author Posted December 1, 2014 Thanks man, I'm goin to give this a try when the wether gets nicer. Go for it! Just make sure if you are doing the area between the windows that you redip the area above the window before you remove the tape. And I mean redip it right before you remove the tap. If you give it too much time to dry then it will stick to the tape and ruin what you did and will need to be redone.
