Anyone ever install one of the OE tailgate caps? I've found a few on Amazon, but I've heard you need a special tool to install them because of the rivnuts?

I haven't but sounds about right. Those rivnut tools can be had for under $50.

That was always on my to do list for my old 03 sierra

Figures. The damn cap is already over $70, and the reviews say the hardware is junk. So I'd have to buy the GM hardware which is another $27. I can't believe how much a stupid piece of plastic is. Haha! I don't even know what the tool looks like either.

Yup it adds up. Here's the rivnut tool. Some kits come with the inserts too.

I'm planning on replacing the OE with a smooth one. The OE holds dust and I don't like the looks a lot.

I added a smooth one not took long after I bought the truck because the factory one was broken off. I can't get the new one to stick. I've tried JB Weld, Silicon nothing works. I'm fed up with it.

I might have to do that. A guy has an oem cap, just waiting on him to get back to me with some pictures.

New rear window is in. Looks way better. It's still not as dark as I would like so I'll have it tinted along with the front windows. Hopefully having that done next week.

Installed my new interior temperature sensor this evening while it was cool out. Took a little drive afterward and the A/C didn't act up. We'll see if it stays that way after some time has passed.
