2014 GMC/Chevy W/Mods Resale Value

The first thing people think when they see a modded vehicle for sale is this:

"That thing has had the piss run out of it. I'll go find one that's bone stock"

De-mod before trade-in.

agree. used car lots are full of late model trucks with extreme mods, particularly huge lifts that simply imply that suspension problems could be lurking.

Like everyone else is saying, mods will not increase the value of a vehicle if you are say trading it in on a new one. But mods can be beneficial if you can find the right buyer in a private selling scenario who is willing to pay the extra price you are asking. If that makes sense.

Like you know the truck is worth 10k stock. But you have a lift, tires, wheels, tune, exhaust, sound system etc. And you are asking 15k for it. The right buyer who wants all that stuff already done might be willing to play ball.

True... key is to find that buyer!

Or to find the guy who says... "Hey if you ever want to sell that truck, call me first!!!"

I guess my view is to keep mods moderate and to your personal liking but avoid going overboard as the expense is most likely not going to be recovered particularly (and this being the most significant consideration) if your not planning to keep for an extended period of time, i.e. many years to where your investment has paid out in terms of your personal enjoyment and use...otherwise, good money down the drain.

One can see so many vehicles on the road with mods.

8 out of 10 look like they are done by fifth graders.

One example is a lifted or leveled truck blinding the oncoming traffic. No headlight adjustments. Hack-job.

Many people don't cover the basics when they modify their vehicles. And that's what scares me off.
