You're not alone, as you can see by reading a bit here. I took my truck into the dealer for the rear end noise, and was given a copy of TSB #01-07-30-042H, which was originally issued in 1/14. Basically just GM's way of giving the service techs a way to "explain away" the noise as normal.

I'm taking my truck to a different Chevy dealer service department on Friday, to have the rear end noise checked again, as well as the issue of my drivers seat "clicking & shifting" in corners. There are two TSB's covering this issue, so I'm hoping they can resolve that one.

I'll report back here on the outcome. Cheers - Rick

No go on the axle shafts fixing the noise though it did seem to help a little for the first few days. Really does it when I'm backing into a parking spot with the wheel turned. Back to the dealership again next week (3rd time for this). I have a laundry list of issues on this truck now to go along with the rear end noise:

1. Exhaust valve squeaking like crazy whenever I hit the gas. Dealer said you either get one that squeaks or one that shakes. Good to know.

2. There is a really bad squeak in the front end whenever I hit any small bump in the road. Sounds like a plastic on plastic squeak.

3. Noticed last week there is a rattle in the dash just above the head light knob. If I tap on the dash there is a rattle/vibration.

4. I also get a nice creaking sound whenever someone gets out of the truck. If I grab the bed and rock the truck back and forth I can replicate the sound.

5. On the drivers side there are tons of little paint imperfections.

6. Onstar randomly activates and then ends the call without actually calling out.

7. Rear camera goes out about once per month. Have to shut it down, let it sit for a minute and then restart before it will work. I can't get it to repeat so the dealership won't do anything.

8. A/C randomly goes into recirculate. Dealer said this is normal.

My 1 1/2 year old truck sounds more like a 10 year old truck with all the noises it makes. I like the truck but all these little problems are getting ridiculous.

After reading all this b.s I'm really hoping that this can be corrected. If I bought a brand new 44k$ truck and it's going to do this forever it's unacceptable. To be honest at 5k miles and I'm already having issues that's just b.s too. If it's not a quick fix I'll never buy one again

You are pretty much describing the ride in a 1997 U haul F350 rental box truck with 230k miles on the clock. I drove a decommissioned one recently that was offered for sale. It had its share of squeaks, rattles, creaks, and annoying whistling wind noise through the door seals. And a bunch of dings and dents all over. But it was offered for $ 1,800 and it had the old 460 cu in V8 workhorse under the hood.

I've had the same issue with my 2013 Silverado. I have an open case with the BBB and am trying to get this issue resolved at this time.

If you haven't made a claim with the Better Business Bureau, then please do. You can find you local representative at http://www.bbb.org/BBB-Locator/. They are extremely helpful at the BBB and filing a claim is pretty simple.

Please take the time and go through the process of submitting a claim. Hopefully it helps everyone with these defective vehicles.

I have a 2014 and my was doing the same clunking sound. I had read something in one of the forums that this was a rear spring issue ( not matching) . I took my truck to my dealer and ask to speak with the shop manager and explained to him my issue., he directed me to his shop foreman and we took a test drive ( not a long one ) he told me that their have had other trucks with the same issue and that there was an order to try to make the clunking disappear.

1: tighten everything and grease the springs

( if that doesn't correct issue)

2: change brackets and (rubber half ball on spring)

( if that doesn't correct issue)

3: order new springs

Well the shop foreman said he wasn't going to make me take my truck back 3 times for the same issue and skipped to step 3 ordering me new matching set of springs.... This fixed the issue and I have not heard a single clunk
