Tailgate emblem removal

I know the 07-13 tailgate emblem was riveted/screwed on. Was wondering if the 2014's were the same. Thought is saw one on the road that had it cleanly removed.

Yeah it just sticks on. I had a 2010 and it was also stuck on and came off clean.

The one on my 2007 LTZ was stuck on. In fact, every Silverado that I've had since 1999 had stuck on emblems. Don't know where you got the bad info.

Yeah, that's definitely some misinformation as I've removed the tailgate badges on every GMT 900 I've owned and all it's taken was abit of fishing line, a heat gun and some adhesive remover. Never remember having to fill any rivet holes!

I didn't even need the fishing line and heat gun. Those just complicated it. Just grab a corner and lift sloooowly. Anything left, "roll" it off w/ your thumb. Like it never even happened.

Yeah, it was like epoxy on my truck. Must have been cooking in the sun too long. The 3M adhesive remover really helped, but man that stuff would result in some wild headaches.

Not necessarily bad info. The camaro has two holes the back emblem sits in. Many vehicles have two holes with two pegs on the back of the emblem that slide into the holes. Its for allignment and easy of application. I would also guess its probably an attempt to keep badging on vehicles.

I've seen the rivet holes before. Plus talked to guys that tried debadging and came across rivets.

I was able to debadge my whole entire 1999 silverado. The door molding was the worst.

Must have been Ford drivers :).

So... Has any one determined how to remove the rear emblem for SURE with out damaging it or the truck on the '14. I cant tell if the question was truly answered. Saw plenty of info on earlier years and a few "I think" and "should" replies. Is it possible to remove the rear emblem to paint it and put back?

I think you'd be better off masking and painting it in place...
