Yes. Every time I have checked, it idles in V8 mode. And AC running high is normal now that the temps are high, here in Texas..lol

Always in V8 mode when idling and in park. Otherwise the engine would rattle itself apart.

Truck will never idle in V4. Always V8 for idle quality.

Or idle at 800rpm.. Engine balance. V8 x V4

I'm not sure I understand your reply. AFM will never engage at idle, period.

I am almost ready to pull the trigger on a Blue Granite Metallic LTZ Z71 4x4 Cew and just want to confirm that was normal. Thanks.

I could't imagine how bad should be an engine with V4 configuration idling at 500rpm :)

It will not switch over into V4 mode unless you are in at least 3rd gear, and then only after you let off on the accelerator. If going slow this will be in the 15 MPH range with a 3.42 gear ratio.

Ive seen mine shift up from 5 to 6 in V4 under slow throttle, weird feeling, I just keep it in m5 till im on the freeway its a different truck.
